chris330r Posted August 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2014 For our upcoming Sensation cruise, I know there's soap & shampoo provided, but what about toothpaste? Do they provide a mini sample in the bathroom or should I bring my own? My toiletry bag is already loaded up with so much stuff that chucking the toothpaste tube will give a little more room for all my other junk packed in there lol. springs741 Posted August 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Take your own. Only guarantee stuff if body wash and shampoo. Sometimes you get stuff in the goodie basket but other time not. We just take travel size for each of us. More than enough for a week or more.
chris330r Posted August 3, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Thanks for the advice. I'll keep it packed to be safe.
marcia014 Posted August 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) My last cruise, in January, there were some samples of Arm & Hammer toothpaste in the room. It tasted awful, and when I looked, the sample had expired 3 months prior. I am glad I brought my own!!! Cruise-Crazy Posted August 3, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) There was nothing in the little clamshell thing in June. I asked about the toothpaste and was told that is a thing of the past. Edited August 3, 2014 by Cruise-Crazy
momof4boys Posted August 3, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 3, 2014 whole thread on lack of goodies on ships lately. We cruised the DREAM in late June and we had no extras. Take anything you want. I have used the shampoo but it makes my hair feel like straw so I always bring my own shampoo.
RWolver672 Posted August 3, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 3, 2014 I don't see why people pack full size items, but some do. Travel sizes last quite a while. Lots of people combine a land vacation with a cruise. For our 2013 cruise, we were gone a month. For our 2015 cruises, we will be gone almost three weeks. 092306 Posted August 3, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Last cruise I think there was toothpaste in a foil packet that probably would cover 1 or 2 brushes and some breathe right strips. I would definitely bring my own.
RuthlessBoss Posted August 4, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Lots of people combine a land vacation with a cruise. For our 2013 cruise, we were gone a month. For our 2015 cruises, we will be gone almost three weeks. Of course it depends on the land vacation, but I still would not want to tote large full size items around. There are always stores somewhere.
PittsburghGirlee Posted August 4, 2014 #12 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Got off the Pride last Sunday and ours was full. There was Bonine, Breath Rights, Lotion, toothpaste and a vitamin C packet. Must be Hit or Miss
cruiseelady Posted August 5, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 5, 2014 I was on Carnival Splendor this June, and the clam shell was completely empty. So definitely bring what ever you need to.
tbbtravels Posted August 5, 2014 #14 Share Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) Don't depend on the ship for your items - it really is hit or miss. Edited August 5, 2014 by tbbtravels
WindsorFred Posted August 5, 2014 #15 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Don't depend on the ship for your items - it really is hit or miss. Agree with this. Has been hit or miss our last 2 cruises.
near the beach Posted August 6, 2014 #16 Share Posted August 6, 2014 There have always been some items in the shell and even sometime the shell gets refilled. However we bring our own bath room items. Other than the TP. We just bring the travel since and have plenty of room in our carryon luggage. NavyCruiser Posted August 6, 2014 #17 Share Posted August 6, 2014 We stock up on $1 of the 5 ounce Crest & Colgate tubes at Dollar Tree, just perfect for a week's worth of toothpaste for 2 of us (& kids get their own tube in their cabin). Throw away tube at end of the week... At Walmart or Target, we also stock up on the larger tubes that sometimes comes bundled with a free smaller 1 ounce sample, perfect for traveling 2 - 3 days weekend trips... Lovefuninthesun Posted August 6, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 6, 2014 On our last cruise, there was virtually nothing in the bowl. Empty, the bowl is in the way and takes up too much counter space -- I just move it down below the sink out of the way. :p
