Shore excursions and early seating dinners

We are booked for a shore excursion in Cozumel until 7pm. We have chosen early dinner (6pm) in the dinning room. Our question is, can we still have our dinner in the any time dinning room when we get back to the ship? We are aware the buffet will still be open. We enjoy the sit down service.

If what I read elsewhere is correct that answer would be no. They stop letting people in about 15 to 20 mins after the start of dinner. But that maybe old info that I read.

No...you should either book anytime or late dining if it is an issue for you! Otherwise you would have to eat in another venue that day! Maybe a day you could do the steakhouse?

No, You cannot switch from early set dining or late set dining to Anytime Dining during the cruise. IF you want to be able to come and go at any time you like in the MDR then you need to choose Anytime Dining for the whole cruise. That way you'd have sit down service and a table just for you the whole cruise. You can have the same wait staff each night if you like just by asking to sit in the same area of the dining room. That way the staff gets to know you BUT you cannot switch back and forth between the traditional dining and Anytime.

ETA- How late is the ship in Cozumel? Could always eat onshore.

We are on the Ecstasy. We get to Cozumel at 1pm and don't leave until 10 pm. Because this is a Fantasy class ship there are less options for dinner , no steakhouse to choose from. Thanks for all the responses.

When I did this itinerary on the Imagination it was open seating dining on Cozumel night. Not that it made a difference, since I stumbled back on board at 9:25 ;)

We asked ahead of time and were given permission to come late. We sat with others who were also coming in late. Service was very quick. Fewer people go to the MDR when there are late shore excursions. My advice is to ask. They might say no, but then on the other hand, they might accommodate your schedule.
