antsnanny Posted August 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2014 We just received a postcard telling us we received a free 7 day NCL cruise guaranteed from Mount Airy Casino.. The card states we have to pick up or prize on a certain date at Mount Airy PA.. Anyone else get this? Anyone know if its for real? Should I be singing the happy song? Thanks... khaide612 Posted August 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2014 Many casinos partner with cruiselines and give out cruises. You usually just have to pay taxes & port charges. If you frequent Mount Airy, then it is probably legit.

Daghis Posted August 14, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2014 I received two free NCL cruise offers from my local casino (Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh) this year. The first was for an oceanview (non-balcony) cabin on a 7-night cruise (except for Norwegian Epic which was an inside cabin). The second was for an inside cabin on a 7-night cruise. I wasn't able to take advantage of the first offer, but I will be sailing on Norwegian Getaway next month thanks to this offer. The cost for this "free" cruise was around $600 for the two of us. Upgrading to a balcony would have been an additional $300/person.

We actually booked this cruise from a previous mailing from them and we also got the current mailing to pick up another. It was for an inside room and like Daghis said it runs approx $300/pp and to upgrade to balcony was additional $300/pp. They will give you a list of ships and you have to book within a certain time window. khaide612 Posted August 14, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2014 We've gotten offers for everything from inside to suite. If it's an inside, ask how much it would be to upgrade when/if you pick a cruise. Sometimes it is well worth it!

garycarla Posted August 14, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 14, 2014 yes, common deal. A search of CASINO will pull up a number of these threads. Your room could be anywhere from an inside and up. Rare that a unknown (to NCL) player would get much more than a balcony. this promo is done for two reasons. 1 - To get a known player back in the home casino. 2 - To get a somewhat known player on a ship with hopes they will play enough to cover their costs of bringing you aboard. If you play enough the first time, they may invite you back.
Daghis Posted August 14, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 14, 2014 Thanks so much… Did the 600.00 include port charges and taxes… Yes, it did. It also included the non-commissionable fare (NCF).
elle64 Posted August 14, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 14, 2014 How often do you frequent the casino to get these offers? How much money do you spend on each visit? Wondering if I should take up a new hobby??

Im assuming the category of the cabin will depend on how much you play?

Wondering if I should take up a new hobby?? I would say we go to this particular casino 3 or 4 times a year and we try not to lose more than 250.00 each.. Were really not heavy hitters but we do sail NCL a few times a year and we frequent the casino every night…
antsnanny Posted August 14, 2014 Author #14 Share Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) Yes, it did. It also included the non-commissionable fare (NCF). Even better.. We have to go to the casino on 8-31 to pick up the voucher. Do you know if they'll give us information on the cabin category on the phone? Calyn2323 Posted August 14, 2014 #15 Share Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) After you pick up your certificate you can call CAS for all the info....My local casino couldn't give me any info on this. They didn't know anything other than I was to come and pick the certificate up. When we got to our casino an open bar and some food was set up...it was very nice...This was so easy to get info and book this cruise. CAS gave me all the info I needed to make my decision on which cruise to book. I called a couple of times and got pricing for a couple of cruises. it was very easy. WE also get free drinks while playing in the casino. I am not sure how this part works. I don't cruise till after Thanksgiving. Do you know if they'll give us information on the cabin category on the phone? If you have a lot of choices, then each port/itinerary will have the ship, cabin category, period of sailings and latest date to book. Note that for the cruise I just booked through a voucher I picked up from LAS a couple of weeks ago allowed me to stack the current NCL promotions at the time. Also, when they quote you the price ask if the NCL insurance is part of the quote and if you have to include it as part of the package (can save you about $100). Cheers! CantSwim63 Posted August 15, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 15, 2014 Thanks so much, what do you mean about stack the current NCL promotions? Great advice on insurance too!!! I just read the original post and all I can say is sorry for the long post but I wanted to give a full answer. The short answer is if NCL is running a promotion, they allow you to use that promotion with your voucher. (Or I should say, with the voucher I got.) When I called in (either July 31 or Aug 1) there was 3rd and 4th person free if cabin had room, OBC depending on cabin category and one category upgrade promotions going on and I fluked out because the promos were ending on the 2nd. So instead of an inside cabin for two, I got an oceanview cabin for four and $30 OBC. The 3/4 promo was taxes and port charges only as there were already two people paying the NCF. I was going to upgrade to a balcony but there weren't any fours left (don't know if this was true or not, but I don't know the ships either). I figured I had such a good deal I kept the $120 insurance for all four of us because getting Blue Cross for my mom is at least $80. The total cost for us is $846 USD for the 7 day cruise out of Houston on the Jewel. And based on the threads on here I am also going to get two free drinks in the casino cards right away rather than having to earn points then get them part way into the cruise. Sorry again for the long post, hope it helps you though in how to use your voucher to get the best deal. Cheers!
AAAAmerican Posted August 15, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 15, 2014 Dear antsnanny, Yes it is gratis with other costs. FREE is never free anymore. The four letter word is so so misused. At least with a cruise no postage and handling charges eh... As you know the terrible shape New Jersey Gambling Halls have gotten themselves into now. Yes pee -pot Poor Management. This is one reason the Commonwealth of Pa. wants to bring gamblers to the locations they have now. Only so much money people have to gamble and the House Wins the majority.. Is it win or takes?;) Are you playing tables? We just received a postcard telling us we received a free 7 day NCL cruise guaranteed from Mount Airy Casino.. Our first 2 cruises with NCL were with certificates that we received from our local casino for inside cabins. After the second cruise, I called CAS to see what the rate was on the BA in October and they comped me a balcony cabin (we got the angled balcony with the larger deck). You also get the drink card when you book with CAS. I've also been receiving multiple offers from CAS in the mail. I booked one that was for a mini suite on the Breakaway at the end of November that includes $200.00 free play. I had picked up another certificate from my local casino for an inside cabin and I didn't use it because I get better offers from CAS.
