beeeg Posted August 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2014 What restaurants are open for lunch on embarkation day? What is the cost of speciality restaurants? How far is the walk to the pier entrance at Turk & Caicos?. Do any ports have transport (similar to golf carts) to take you from the ship to the port entrance? Does anyone have the latest menus for the MDR. Can anytime diners eat at any restaurant? We would welcome some answers, if not all.

One of the main dining rooms will be open for lunch till about 1:30pm on embarkation day (check the Patter for which one). The Horizon Court buffet will, of course, be busy. There's the International Café for a quick bite and there's pizza and hamburgers/hot dogs on the pool deck. Sabatinis and Crown Grill are both $25 p/p. Here's a shot of the dock at Grand Turk. I don't believe that I saw any transport from the ships to the terminal building. DSCN0040 by RickEk, on Flickr There will be two anytime dining rooms midship off the main atrium. You can eat in either if you have anytime dining. Edited August 16, 2014 by RickEk
Pam in CA Posted August 16, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) Can anytime diners eat at any restaurant? If you have Anytime dining, you can eat in either of the Anytime dining rooms, the buffet, specialty restaurant, room service, International Cafe, grill, pizza, Alfredo's or whatever. The only dining room you can't eat in is the Traditional/fixed seating dining room. All of the dining rooms, both Anytime and Traditional, have the same menu and dress code. Just do a search for any ship's menus. They are all pretty much the same and don't change very often. Edited August 16, 2014 by Pam in CA

The Coral Dining Room was open for lunch on embarkation day until 1:30. It's the dining room that was open every day for breakfast (7:30-9:30) and for lunch (noon-1:30) on sea days. Since we did not arrive in Grand Turk until noon, they also opened it that day for lunch. The Island Dining Room opened for anytime dining for dinner from 5:30 until 9:30. They used the Coral Dining Room for an early first seating traditional at 5:30. It was open to anytime diners from 7 until 9:30. We had second seating traditional in the Palm Dining Room. On one night, we did the Ultimate Balcony Dinner. Our tablemates took advantage of our empty seats to invite another couple to join them that night. They checked with our head waiter before doing so. On the second formal night, when there were apparently long lines at the anytime dining rooms, we saw anytime passengers being seated in the traditional dining room at empty tables. On this cruise, I did not see as many empty tables in the dining room as I have on some cruises. Sabatini's and the Crown Grill were $25 per person. The Crab Shack, which they held a couple of nights in a section of the buffet, was $20 per person. They offered the pub lunch in the Crown Grill on the two scheduled sea days. The food is free. Of course they encourage you to order an appropriate pub beverage to go with it. The menus were the standard Princess menus. You'll probably be able to find them somewhere here on Cruise Critic. johnatsis Posted August 16, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 16, 2014 I think it was the Turks that have kids with Cycle rickshaws that will take you from the boat to port entrance... Might have been Cozumel I'm thinking about
maz48 Posted August 16, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 16, 2014 Cozumel do have the cycle rickshaw riders to take you up and down from ship to port entrance. Well at the dock in the town, not sure at the one a couple of miles away.

Nah, that's just the perspective of the photo. It'd take you about 5 minutes or so to walk from the ship to the entrance of the terminal.

LovetheSea Posted August 16, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 16, 2014 If the Coral dining room is open on embarkation day and you get on the ship in time. I would definitely recommend going here. So much nicer, better food. It is a zoo in the buffet first day.
