Unfortunately, there is no place within walking distance of any Newark Airport hotel to buy wine and water.

There is an outlet mall within walking distance, and we walked through the entire mall and did not find any wine or water.

Thanks Bob. The best way to do it would be to see if you can order it ahead and just get a cab to do a drive by to pick it up. Boston has a similar problem - no liquor stores near the port.

I had looked on the directory for the outlet mall and didn't see anything that looked like it might so thanks for confirming. Guess we'll have to go the cab route and hope it doesn't defeat the purpose (cost-wise) of buying it ahead of time. Guess we could also wait until we hit one of our first ports and buy it there. Will they let us bring our two bottles onboard after we've sailed if we haven't brought any at embarkation?

Royal's rules only allow you to keep the wine at initial embarkation. At other ports, they will take any alcohol and keep it until the end of the cruise.

 

How are you getting to the ship? If it's a private car service, can you have them swing by the liquor store first?

Are Celebrity's rules the same as Royal's? And no, a hotel shuttle so not an option.
