The U.S. Passport Card can be used to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports-of-entry and is more convenient and less expensive than a passport book. The passport card cannot be used for international travel by air.

The passport has no limits.

So we can use the card for check in at the pier instead of a birt cert?

Definitely. And you will show it to US Customs at the end of your cruise.

Have a great time!

Yes. My nieces and sister had those. But you might want to consider getting the full books - just in case. If not, it's definitely more convenient than the BC/DL route. You can also use them as ID for boarding a plane (domestic only).

Yes. But I will point out that the Passport Card doesn't give you any benefits over just using the birth certificate and photo ID. And it costs.
