snc_cam Posted August 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2014 The U.S. Passport Card can be used to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports-of-entry and is more convenient and less expensive than a passport book. The passport card cannot be used for international travel by air. The passport has no limits.
goduckies05 Posted August 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2014 So we can use the card for check in at the pier instead of a birt cert? Sent from my SM-G900P using Forums mobile app
snc_cam Posted August 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) Yes. But I would call Carnival and make sure. It doesn't hurt to double-check. Edited August 23, 2014 by snc_cam
AdGuyMG Posted August 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 23, 2014 So we can use the card for check in at the pier instead of a birt cert? Sent from my SM-G900P using Forums mobile app Definitely. And you will show it to US Customs at the end of your cruise. Have a great time!
firemanbobswife Posted August 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2014 So we can use the card for check in at the pier instead of a birt cert? Sent from my SM-G900P using Forums mobile app Yes. My nieces and sister had those. But you might want to consider getting the full books - just in case. If not, it's definitely more convenient than the BC/DL route. You can also use them as ID for boarding a plane (domestic only).
ccruisequeen Posted August 23, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 23, 2014 We have to get ours renewed by mid November and are definitely thinking of going the card route, since we rarely get away from the west coast.
Shmoo here Posted August 23, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 23, 2014 So we can use the card for check in at the pier instead of a birt cert? Sent from my SM-G900P using Forums mobile app Yes. But I will point out that the Passport Card doesn't give you any benefits over just using the birth certificate and photo ID. And it costs.
