jennjess Posted August 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Is it possible to buy drink vouchers onboard or do you have to pre-purchase beforehand? The drink packages are of no interest to us as we drink very little alcohol so they seem too expensive. Is there any advantage to booking excursions before boarding? Hi Jennjess You can buy drink vouchers on board, just be aware they will charge an additional 15% Service Charge. Better to pre order through the website and the charge minus the 15% gets added to your onboard account and you pay at the end of your cruise. There are no advantages to booking excursions before boarding other than places are limited and popular excursion sell out fast. Have a great cruise. We decided to do the Allegrissimo drink package after all which I have pre-booked online. We will just have to drink enough to make it worthwhile. Now the MSC website is saying that the payment is overdue but can I still pay for it onboard or do I have to pay for it now?
maureencruiser Posted August 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Since you're in the Netherlands, I don't know if it is different, but, I booked it here in the US last week and it said I would be charged upon check-in.

Hi Jenjess Sorry cant help with that one. I have had mine booked since day 1 of our booking earlier this year. I do remember seeing somewhere that they don't like changes on the website within 5 days of travel. Might just be worth a call to you local MSC Rep to check they have the booking. Allegrissimo is definitely worth it if only to take away any anxiety over the final bar bill. Hope you enjoy your cruise.
helen haywood Posted August 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 25, 2014 If you order the vouchers before boarding, are they delivered to your stateroom? How do you get them?
DL10 Posted August 25, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 25, 2014 You get the vouchers by going to the casino bar. There will be a sign that says pre-paid vouchers. Take your room card. They will look you up by name, give you your vouchers and have you sign for them. If you get a wine package, tell your waiter in the dining room when you arrive the first evening. He/she will tell the appropriate person who will bring those vouchers to you. When you use your vouchers, you still need to present your room card. You will get a receipt showing $0 and the drinks will show up on your bill as a $0 charge.

I tried to call the local MSC office today to ask but it was taking too long for them to put me through. I will try again tomorrow. We still have 4 weeks before we cruise. Here's my Q about this package.... We're thinking that a couple of the 15 voucher packages may be the way to go for us. We know that whatever you buy for yourself, all in cabin must purchase also. So.... We want 3 of the 15 voucher drink packages. There only two of us. Is that possible or if one occupant buys 2 of the 15 voucher packages, so must the other??? (Making it 4 instead of 3) Thanks. No, you don't all have to buy the same, it is just when you buy an unlimited or all inclusive drink package that that rule applies. With vouchers buy as many or as little as you want. 11toCruisePlease Posted August 28, 2014 #12 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Thanks and more thanks. That sums up our final decision now. We enjoy to drink. But with 3 port day's, the unlimited became ALOT to feel we had to drink. So, several voucher books would allow us plenty and spend half the money. I'd just like to add to your posting that having the drink package added to your on board expenses means it goes to the loyalty club bonus of one extra point for every $200. spent on board! So don't forget to join the MSC loyalty club when you get home from your cruise!:)

All bars and lounges take them so does the coffee bar and juice bar. Not sure about the Divina but on every other ship, only drinks available in the MDR are water, soft drinks, wine and beer. They don't usually serve cocktails there.

Thanks for that valuable info!
