Book flights through Airline or Cruise Line?

Calling on all of you seasoned/experienced cruisers for an answer/opinion on this one!!!

 

Have you found it more economical to book your flights through the airlines or through the cruise line?

 

We are planning a July, 2015 cruise/tour through Princess and I have started checking into airfares. The air is not yet available on the Princess site but is on the airlines. Needless to say....I'm suffering from sticker shock! :eek:

 

Any experiences you could share would be greatly appreciated.

I always book my flights directly with the airlines because whenever I've inquired with the cruise lines, their flights are always more pricey.

Make your own flight plans...no reason to have a 3rd party (cruiseline in this case) involved...keep control..It's easy and you'll be glad you did.

Thank you all for your replies. You have confirmed what I suspected but I thought maybe the cruise lines secured some special fares. Wishful thinking for sure!

We originally booked our own and they were not cheap. Due to a change with a connecting flight we had to cancel and rebooked through the cruise line. We saved about $400 with the switch.
