Verizon in San Juan?

Thought it might be quicker to post here than try getting through to Verizon.

 

I seem to remember reading somewhere (probably here on cc) that there is Verizon service in San Juan. We'll be there next week on Freedom, and thought that might be a good time to check in on the parents at assisted living.

Last time I checked, Verizon treats San Juan like the mainland US. However, Verizon treats the USVI as foreign.

Sailed early August on Jewel from San Juan. My wife and I both have Verizon iPhones. Even though you are on 'Extended' network, all voice/data/SMS is billed as if you were still at home. Very good cell coverage throughout the city as well.

Last time I checked, Verizon treats San Juan like the mainland US. However, Verizon treats the USVI as foreign.

 

With Verizon USVI is text and data just like at home but they charge additional for phone calls.

I have been in San Juan several times in the past 3-5 years and have never had any trouble with my Verizon cell phone....also never been charged extra for anything.

We have Verizon and wondered if we have to activate anything on our phone so we can use it in PR.

Nope, nothing special to activate or do. Your Verizon phone will work just as well it does at home.

Just don't forget to put in airplane mode or off for the cruise.
