Carnival Magic dry dock

Does anybody know why the dry dock was cancelled for the Carnival Magic in March 2015(I believe) ?

Because the Magic is taking over all of the Triumphs short cruises while the Triumph does a 10, 11 and 12 day cruises in Feb/March 2015.

Oh ok, so after the triumph complete those cruises, then they may reschedule the dry docking for the Magic?

No dry dock for Magic is currently scheduled.

 

It was originally scheduled before Carnival announced Freedom was relocating to Galveston. Both Freedom and Triumph have Guy's and some of the other stuff.

I have a feeling dry dock is a long ways off for Magic. They have said nothing scheduled for 2015.

I am happy to know that a tandoor station will be available from at least one Galveston-based ship for the foreseeable future. I imagine that a dry dock would probably replace it.

putting many contractors on it weekly to do upgrades sans a drydock. don't know what we're getting yet. but hamburger area is already in the same place as guys's so a décor and product switch and guys will be in place. the ship is in great shape and really doesn't need a drydock anyway..and please don't take away the tandoori station. its the best part of the buffet at lunch!:cool:

Since the Magic was christened in May, 2011, she does not need to dry dock until May, 2016.

They have been doing stuff as it sails. The kids camp is being refurbished right now and they said will be done Oct 26th.

How do they make changes while sailing. Do they close it down and block it off? How can we find out what changes will be done to her.

We were on her 5th sailing in the Med in '11. Hard to believe that people are talking about a drydock for the ship!

It's mandatory for a ship to go to dry dock every 5 years!

I've been on the Magic the past two summers...didn't really see the need for anything to be upgraded. Wouldn't have minded trying the Guy's Burgers, but i didn't really miss it either.

 

I'm glad to see that some people like the Tandor...it was the only thing I tried on there that I hated...

Last week they had Camp Carnival closed all week. Before we boarded they loaded all the supplies they needed to start changing it over to Camp Ocean. Camp Carnival was held in the conference rooms. If you walked by the old location during the day you could hear the work being done.

I agree about the Tandoori. Love that. I can't believe much would be involved in converting the burger place to a Guys.

Just upholstery. And that can be done without a dry dock...

It's mandatory to get a ship out of the water every 5 years. So she will get a dry dock for sure next year, no matter what!
