CruiserBruce Posted September 5, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2014 Needless to say, you won't be allowed very close. However, a helicopter tour would possibly be very worthwhile.

CruiserBruce Posted September 6, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2014 The park is very large, and has lots of things to see. It would appear a portion of it may be off limits. But you will still be able to see lots.
Kartgv Posted September 6, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2014 (edited) The area where the current flows are is not in a place normally open to the public. The "state of emergency" is for the benefit of the small community of homeowners who are in the path of the current flow. Unfortunately for tourists, there is no actual flow visible from the public areas of the park, nor is there any flow into the ocean. The current situation should not affect anyone's tour unless the flow dramatically escalates. Here's a link to the official Kilauea status website: http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/activity/kilaueastatus.php.
