CAS Perk Changes

I know some of this has been discussed in another thread about CAS not booking a 2nd room unless it's also for a CAS player..... but thought I'd start a new thread to let others know it's not just that.

There is no more VIP Amenity Program. That basically included free breakfast/lunch at Cagneys, 1 pk. of smokes or 1 cigar a day, VIP embarkation and you'll see below there is a change in the spa perk.

I'll really miss the breakfast/lunch perk :(

Below is a reply to my e-mail from Cas. However, my PCC, when I called said it was still available......but we know we can't believe half of what we're told on the phone.

Hi Harriet,

We did make some changes. Onboard has limited our choices this year

Most of the things you are asking about was part of what is called the VIP Amenity Program. We will still have the dedicated casino line for embarkation. The VIP has been taken away from us.

We are no longer allowed to offer Cagney’s for lunch and breakfast for any guests except suite We are no longer offering cigarettes.

We are still offering the free dinner.

We still have many great features and have switched thermal spa access to a spa credit so you can decide on whatever treatment you would like.

I am fairly new to the golden level and I going on the Gem in a month and I was looking forward to these amenities as most of you I am sure were too. I cruised on Breakaway in July 2014 when I was at Golden Level as well but did not receive the VIP treatment because it was not offered on the Breakaway. I hope they rethink the new program and make some changes. For everyone who booked with the information that was on their website when they booked, I feel they should honor the old perks or create new ones that are comparable in some way. I do believe it should have not been charged mid year with no notice to any of us .

With that being said I know I will still enjoy my cruise as I always do, just wanted to experience the VIP treatment.

Everyone enjoy your cruises.

It is definitely some big cuts. I'm kind of bummed.

However, in my skeptical mind, I wonder if there may be more cuts that are unannounced?

I'll be curious to see my bill subtractions in three weeks.

This is something that has always seemed pretty subjective, however generous in my experience.

I suspect that these VIP offers were extended to the casino by the ship... and have been withdrawn due to how many people were able to take advantage of them / confusion between differing benefits depending on ship.

I find it very disappointing too, but am hopeful they'll find some other creative means to reward play and loyalty.

This really sucks! I've taken about 10 cruises through CAS and spent a lot of time/money in the casino earning my Golden status. I invited a friend to join me on my November cruise and was looking forward with great anticipation to our special breakfasts and lunches in Cagney's. That is the only perk that interests me. With the cancellation of this comp, there no longer is a reason for me to keep my Golden status. Guess I'll be spending less time in the casino.

If necessary, this change absolutely should have been implemented no sooner than next April 1st at the start of the new evaluation period and with amenities being grandfathered for all those who had cruises booked before then.

I am VIP and they were losing money on me because of this program. I used to always upgrade to suites, almost exclusively because of the Cagneys perk. Then, after this program started, I started only doing minis on the older ships because I didn't care about the butler/concierge and I was still able to use Cagneys. Oh well. All good things must come to an end.

We are sailing on Gem with an elderly financially challenged family member and her companion as our guests. I got 5 day spa pass under old program, and my husband hates the spa, so I promised her the 5 day pass and she was more excited about that than the whole trip. So, anyone sailing this week or next who can provide info on the change to spa perk would be helpful. Would like to know if I can use credit to buy spa passes. And how much the credit is for. I can't disappoint her, so now I am going to have to buy them.....

I think this will come back to haunt them, I for one will not go crazy trying to build up points to receive the equivalent of $120.00 spa credit, an upgraded drink card or a 3% fee. I feel bad for the people who are VIP as they are totally getting screwed (whoopee they spend the equivalent of $175,000(Slot) or $350,000(VP) and they get ultra drinks and a soda card SMH)

Count me among those disappointed, too. I am expecting to make VIP on my cruise leaving next week, but the extra perks being given to VIPs mean nothing to me.

I was looking forward to my 2-day spa pass for being Golden and (no flaming!) I liked getting my free pack of smokes every day in the casino.

All we can do is wait and see and as Stephen said above, hope they find other ways to reward their loyal players.

I agree about the cigarettes but I don't care if I get flamed lol

I have to agree, I'm afraid. The difference between Golden and VIP:

Ultra drink card instead of Premium drink card

Global cash fees Waived

Soda Pkg. for two

Why become VIP? I'm not a drinker, hardly use Global cash, and don't drink soda.

If changes were to be made it should have started at the beginning of the new 'yearly evaluation' which would be April 1st.

It says: "Tier elevations are based on Reward Points earned within the 12-month evaluation period. The yearly evaluation period is from April 1 – March 31. Your new status level begins April 1st and stays with your until the next evaluation period, unless you earn more points to bring you to next level during the year."

Basically, if someone made Golden Tier it now has less perks then when they actually made Golden or VIP Tier. IMHO, it should change at the next evaluation period, not mid cycle.

Yea, I know they're perks.......but when one reaches that tier for a period of time they should be able to keep then all during that period of time. They've taken away....and not added or replaced with anything that I can see.

Truth be told, I'm sure it's not CAS that made these changes....it had to come from somewhere else. I wish I knew where else so I could voice my disappointment to the department who made these changes.

Yep, that's seems to be basically it. Why bother!?

Does anyone know (or if they have a minute onboard, can they ask?) how much the spa credit is for Gold and VIP? I have called twice and no one seems to be able to provide an answer. Interested particularly in the Gem. Thanks

I cannot believe i worked soooo hard to get golden and now the cagneys perk is gone ?? Really I was on the dawn in April after the year ends and needed 600 points to get back to golden and now for what?

I think it is TOTALLY UNFAIR for them to change it mid year after people have worked up to golden status planning on their next cruise to have special benefits. This SHOULD HAVE BEEN implemented on April 1st and we should have been given notice.

Looks like i will spend more money in AC instead of the cruise ships they seem to need it more anyway.

VERY DISSAPOINTING

Even worse than we thought. CAS just called me back re spa credit -- took three days to get a return call. Anyway, they claim that the new "spa credit" isnt really a spa credit at all, but instead is a change in the amount of days for the spa pass. Golden gets ONE day with a guest. VIP gets TWO days with a guest. CAS Rep was apologetic - said it was a corporate decision that CAS had no input into or control over....

That really stinks! I'm leaving on the Star on the 22nd and expected to spend some time in the spa thanks to CAS.
