flahagan Posted September 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2014 We just finished watching Gambee's very thorough video review of the Breeze on youtube and we are just plain dizzy from all the stripes. We're booked with 3 of our teen grandkids for an 8-day on her next July, and while I think the kids will have a blast, we're almost nauseous from the decor. Is it truly as bad as it looks? Holy cow, that appears to be one ugly ship. Big and loaded, but ugly. The stripes and circles, the colors, doesn't it get old and annoying after a few hours? I'm hoping that in reality, it doesn't come off as awful as it does in videos. I have to admit that if I'd seen this a few weeks ago, I would have never booked on this ship. Tacky, tacky, tacky. Do you ever get used to it enough to ignore it?
gardengirl2011 Posted September 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2014 The Breeze is beautiful! She is my favorite ship. If some of the other very colorful ship (victory) don't bother you, then the Breeze certainly won't.
Cruising4 Posted September 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2014 The Breeze consistently gets positive reviews for her tasteful decorations and subtle colors. We were on the Glory, it looks like a pre-schoolers crayon box! The NCL Epic, now that's an ugly ship but we had a great time anyway. Look at more reviews and videos - you have time to switch to different line.
flutist14_99 Posted September 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2014 We found the Breeze's decor almost too understated. It was relaxing.
beachbaby2 Posted September 12, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Are you sure you were looking at the carnival breeze? The ship is beautiful! All muted sea colors. Sent from my GT-P5210 using Forums mobile app
flahagan Posted September 12, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Yes, it was definitely the Breeze. Go on youtube and there's Gambee's 4-part review. I think it was the striped walkways that got to us in the videos - that and the concentric circles on the atrium floor. It just looked dizzying, but if nobody that's been on the ship has been bothered by it, I'll take that as a good thing!
ldlewis45 Posted September 12, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 12, 2014 The Breeze is really nice. The decor may have looked terrible on film, but it's very good in person. It definitely looks more upscale than the rest of Carnival's fleet.
yellowlab5 Posted September 12, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 12, 2014 The Breeze is my favorite ship and one of the reasons is the beautiful decor. It has a Carribean feel to it. Oh I wish I was on it now!! So nice!!
flahagan Posted September 12, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Oh, so glad to hear this. We could hardly watch the videos, the stripes just became overwhelming. Very happy to hear nobody notices this while onboard. Just watch the videos and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Rowan555 Posted September 13, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 13, 2014 I love the decor of the Breeze - we're cruising on the Dream in two days, and THAT decor is tired and played out. So glad Carnival has someone else designing the interiors now!

Do you ever get used to it enough to ignore it? I just watched some of the videos and I would say 95% of what the problem is the he is using a "fish eye" type lens and it made me dizzy watching it. And truth be told The Breeze was my last cruise and I never noticed all the lines until I read it here and watched the videos. I think it will be very different seeing it in person. Aviendah Posted September 13, 2014 #12 Share Posted September 13, 2014 It's funny that you mention the stripes. When we were on the Valor we never noticed how many stripes were in the decor. It wasn't until we started going through our photos that we noticed how prominent they were. They look obnoxious in the photos but we honestly never paid attention to them. I'm very sensitive to esthetics and I was thinking the Breeze might seem boring compared to the other Carnival ships. Now I'm prepared to love it! Cruising4 Posted September 13, 2014 #14 Share Posted September 13, 2014 (edited) I'm watching the videos now. It is stripey and swirly! I never noticed it in the still pictures. I think it's the walking and the fisheye that make the perspective look "off". Even the pillars warp as Gambee walks past them. The color palette is is very soothing and very tasteful. Not elegant but nice, sort of simple. Not gaudy. WOW, it's been a few minutes since I stopped watching the video and I feel a bit queasy. Gosh, I love Gambee though. Cruise life Posted September 13, 2014 #15 Share Posted September 13, 2014 Well, it's rare you see it that way because there are always people walking around! How did they get photos without anyone in them? The atrium was almost always packed when we were going thru. Also love the new decor compared to the older ships, and especially the wider walkways and airier feel. The trees in the middle of the walkways were interesting. legion3 Posted September 13, 2014 #20 Share Posted September 13, 2014 I do wish he would not put in his reviews so many fish eye lens and the animation pics. Its cute once in a while but way to many pics are shown in this fashion. I love his reviews and his standard pictures but find the fisheye lens far less useful and much more difficult to look at on a long basis. Won't stop me from reading his reviews though.
