happymoes Posted September 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2014 I think I read to avoid Deck 6. We are trying to get a wall to ceiling window room for our oceanview. Which Decks would you avoid?? Thanks
k2excursion Posted September 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) Sunshine unfortunately added a whole bunch of cabins when they converted it from the Destiny. In addition to that meaning more people, it also makes it more confusing to know what cabins are best. You can't really go by decks anymore. You just got to look at what's above & below that particular spot. It's good to have only rooms both above & below. With the additional rooms added, the very back of deck 6 now has rooms above & below. All of deck 7 is good. The front of deck 8 is good, the rest of deck 8 is a mix of good & bad. Some spots on deck 9 are good, the ones with rooms above. Deck 2 is good, except for the rooms from the midship elevators to the aft elevators. Having the lobby or the dining rooms over you is just fine, but you do not want the galley over you. Those floor-to-ceiling window rooms are only on deck 9, in the very front. They are very popular and get booked up fast, because they are quite amazing. Edited September 16, 2014 by k2excursion

shakes1616 Posted September 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 16, 2014 I have not sailed on Sunshine yet. I am leaving this weekend (Yeah)! But I think people are saying it's bad because the rooms on deck 6 are over the night club which plays music late.

serene56 Posted September 16, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) Like to know what's wrong with Deck 6? there is a lot of cabins that will be above noise space. there are a limited amount that are in quieter locations. there are some areas that look quiet=== like being above the casino bar-- but beaware that cabins above and around that area--there is a band that sets up after 9pm and they play til the wee hours-- you do not see that on a deck plan Edited September 16, 2014 by serene56

mikem1977 Posted September 16, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 16, 2014 Oh no, we have two rooms on deck 2 right near the Atrium elevators. An oceanview and interior. What can we expect with these rooms.

lovecruise3 Posted September 16, 2014 #12 Share Posted September 16, 2014 My husband and I are taking the kids on their first cruise May 2015. We always have a cabin on deck 2 but hubby want one on deck 6. Since we are a family of five, only deck 1, 2, and 6 are available. I haven't booked yet cause I'm checking which deck is better for us. I think that I will be on deck 2.

deetrayn Posted September 16, 2014 #14 Share Posted September 16, 2014 FYI- For those interested in a spa cabin, deck 10 would be the best. There are only two elevators that go to decks 11 and up. I had a balcony on deck 12 and it got frustrating having to wait for those elevators. It is nice and quiet up there, it also took longer than normal to get back & forth to my cabin. cacroozr Posted September 16, 2014 #15 Share Posted September 16, 2014 The scenic ocean view rooms with the floor to ceiling windows are right below or above the bridge, so pretty forward. And they are awesome! We were on deck 9 in one on our cruise this past July. If you can get one, you should do it. I would get another in an instant! serene56 Posted September 16, 2014 #16 Share Posted September 16, 2014 Our rooms are 2181 ocean view and 2207 interior. your 2181 is a connecting cabin. (could be noisy if the cabin holds teens or with an older couple that have a hard time hearing) other then that you should have no noise issues. you are on deck

They run that area 24 hours a day. the dining room is carpeted so any cabin under that area will be great. but with kids that age-- please take a balcony so you have some where to escape to while the kids are sleeping 6335 and back will be good-- cabins ablove and below are good choices

But I think people are saying it's bad because the rooms on deck 6 are over the night club which plays music late. The night club is under only a very small portion of the cabins. The whole deck can't be considered bad because 10 or so cabins a re a bit noisier than the rest (and for me that would not even be an issue as I sleep like a rock anyway). grandmacani Posted September 16, 2014 #19 Share Posted September 16, 2014 Oh no, we have two rooms on deck 2 right near the Atrium elevators. An oceanview and interior. What can we expect with these rooms. We had cabin 2170 on the sunshine for 28 days. It was quiet. No traffic. Easy to get to the showroom and dinner. It was under the shore excursion desk and we still never heard anything. It seems that the room was a tad larger due, I think, to the design of the ship. It seemed to have a longer couch. It is also under deck 3 outside deck but it's usually very quiet out there. We never heard the elevators or music. Enjoy the sunshine, we loved it. We stayed in one of those "bad cabins" back in April on deck 6 forward on our last Sunshine cruise...admittedly...we did hear some "thumping" from the liquid lounge, but was not loud enough to effect us, and was usually done by 1:30am or so, or maybe thats when I fell asleep...one of those anyway. I sort of "complained" to guest services and they offered to move us, but we declined as we liked where our cabin was located and the "noise" did not bother us. Oddly, we had cruised the Sunshine in a 4J cabin on deck 6 prior to April and that cabin was like 6 cabins down from the one we had in April. We did not hear anything from the liquid lounge in the 4J.

I think that I will be on deck 2. I just looked over the deck plans. We're thinking about a Sunshine cruise and I'm sticking with deck 1 just to make sure we're away from noisy areas. I'd love deck 7, but we're like you and need a room for five. Parts of decks 2 and 6 look okay, but I really value quiet. BTW, don't let anyone tell you that you will hate sharing a room, must have a balcony, etc. It's totally depends on your family. We've shared a tiny inside and had a great time. More room than our tent, after all, and we were usually not in the room except to sleep and rest. Our youngest changed in the closet. :) Kids stay up later on cruises and you can take turns going upstairs at night if you have little ones. Camp Carnival is nice if you want alone time together. ;)

I will absolutely second this. If you don't mind walking you can take the elevator to ten and then walk but for some it is problematic. That said deck 11 was absolutely peaceful and we had a wonderful steward

I agree partially but then also disagree...depends on the person. Deck 10 balcony cabins have no coverage. We were on Deck 11 and looked right down onto deck 10. Our balcony on deck 11 was covered. If you don't want shade Deck 10 could be awesome...but if you want a little privacy you won't get it on deck 10 spa cabins. Since we were on deck 11 we most often just took the elevator to deck 10 and then took the stairs up to deck 11. We had no real issues with stairs so this worked well for us. I figured I could have dessert if I had to climb the stairs from deck 10 to deck 11. LOL, KIDDING! Sorta! The Spa Balcony cabins were awesome. We walked right out to the Serenity adults only pool...and there was NO through traffic on our deck. It was SOOOOO peaceful....

mommiemudd Posted September 17, 2014 #25 Share Posted September 17, 2014 Anyone stay in these cabins? We know they are over the backstage area of the theatre/liquid lounge. Hoping we are for enough forward to not have any of that noise.
