TandK0826 Posted September 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2014 Has anyone been here? I heard the pina coladas are well worth going for!! I was trying to find online how to get there from the pier but could not find much info. Anyone know? I thought someone said water taxi but not sure?? Is it far from the pier and how much are the taxies or water taxies in St Maarten. There are four of us so I am sure they charge per person. mlmc424 Posted September 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2014 We've been there but not had the pina colada. If you take a water taxi from the ship to the downtown area, go back to the main street with all the shops (about a block from the beach), turn right and it's up a few blocks. I think its 5 or 6 bucks and they give you a bracelet and you go back and forth all day. The Guavaberry Emporium is on the main drag. You can't miss the street. Get off the water taxi and walk straight - the first street is Front Street I think. Hang a right and you'll find the Emporium. Look at Google Maps - here: https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Voorstraat,+Philipsburg,+Sint+Maarten/@18.0223286,-63.0447524,18z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x8c0e6e70e8cc743b:0x700e514b867017ff I've got a couple of pictures of the place I took several years ago Never tried the Pina Colada. We did buy a couple of bottle of the Guavaberry Liqueur tho.
Evilgrin72 Posted September 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 18, 2014 It's in downtown Philipsburg, I've been a few times. You can get a guavaberry colada at a ton of different places if you want to try one of those, no need to go to the Emporium unless you'd like to try the different flavors and buy a bottle (or bottles) to take home with you. From the ship to Philipsburg is not far at all - a short, cheap cab ride, or you can take the water taxi. You can even walk it, but it's a longer walk and if it's hot out, that might not be the most pleasant thing.
EatonDoolittle Posted September 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2014 The main store is in town, you can either walk or take the water taxi over. It is right on the main drag, will be on the shopper guide no doubt. However, they have an annex kiosk right at the pier. You can, and should , have a colada there. Or two, they are delicious. Uri1961 Posted September 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 18, 2014 the water taxi is about 4$ per person one way I believe. It's where the shopping is in St. Marteen. Awesome store, if you get there early enough, and you purchase 3 or more bottles, they will deliver to the ship. I also got a free t-shirt. TandK0826 Posted September 18, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted September 18, 2014 Thanks for the replies!!! I do appreciate it. I did not realize you could get the guavaberry coladas at other places than the Emporium. That was the only reason I wanted to go there to be honest. Guess I will be getting one at the pier instead. Thanks for the info.
cjdixon4 Posted September 18, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 18, 2014 When I sailed on the Oasis in 2012, I tasted the Guavaberry juice. It was to-die-for! Didn't know about the Emporium...good information, and I just might check them out on my next itinerary that includes St. Maarten.
karen&roy Posted September 18, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 18, 2014 The Guavaberry Liquer is to die for. We brought back a few bottles and wish we had bought more for gifts. You cant buy it anywhere else but in St Martin!
Bothofus2 Posted September 18, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 18, 2014 If you go there make sure you stop across the street at the Yoda Guy too and check out his shop.
