Port Warnemunde to Berlin

We haven't actually done this trip but are booked to do it next year on the Eclipse.

We have booked a private tour, as it is a fair distance from the port to Berlin and we thought it better to go with someone who knows their way around the area.

Rick Steves' book has some good discussion in it regarding this very subject if you have access to that.

Sorry I can't be more suggestive. Hope this helps.

It depends on how comfortable you are in using public transportation and what you hope to accomplish once in Berlin. If your goal is do-it-yourself, I can't be of much use except to say that your cruiseline probably offers a transfer.

We used a Holland America tour which included train transportation to Berlin. The train pulled up right in front of the ship so it was very convenient. We chose the train over the bus option because the train allowed more comfort and room to move around as well as a snack and drinks. Of course, restrooms were always available.

Once in Berlin, our guide and driver made effective use of our time. We thought it was the best option. Companies such as SPB and Alla offer multi-city packages, but I think they use vans rather than the train. We used SPB in St. Petersburg and highly recommend them. We chose the ship's tour in Berlin beacuse they were going where we wanted to go, and we preferred to go by train.

the trains the ship excursions use are older stock that are not airconditioned-can be a problem in Summer!

we used SPB in 2009

From Warmemunde to Berlin there were 3 private groups-one of 20 ours of 12 and 1 of 4

All of us were on the same large airconditioned bus until we got to Berlin[rest stop half way along 2-2 1/2 hour journey

Once in Berlin we met our individual guides

the largest group stayed on the bus whilst we transferred to a minivan and the smaller group to a car

after our walking/driving tour of Berlin we met up again for the transfer back to Warnemunde in the large bus-very well organised and good value for money

The high speed trains to Berlin via public transport don't tend to work with most cruiselines unless you dock very early in the morning
