b2b on different ship

We are considering a b2b on two different ships, the first week on the Allure and the second week on the Ruby Princess, both leave from Port Everglades, can you walk to the next ship, would a taxi take you that short distance, or is there a shuttle to take you.

Thanks

Taxi would be your best option. Port Everglades is an industrial type area, not conducive to walking.

I've read about a shuttle, but don't know details. A couple have people mentioned having to wait a long time for the shuttle to fill up.

We did a B2B between the Allure and the Independence last year. As the previous poster mentioned, Ft. Lauderdale iis a very large industrial port that is very spread out. The streets that run thru the port are narrow and busy, and there are no sidewalks. Do not try to walk!!!

We took a taxi to the next ship. Taxi drivers don't like these short trips, so when we got into the taxi I immediately gave the driver a $20. bill and then told him where we wanted to go. He was happy with that.

We've done this a few times...and have been rightfully corrected by a few saying it is techinically called "consecutive cruises". We still consider it B2B.

As previously stated, walking to the next ship is discouraged. On one occasion, we did walk. Before disembarkation from the Allure, we went up the top deck and discovered our next ship (Celebrity Solstice) was conveniently docked next door. We each ony had a rolling hardcase and decided to walk. It was a short, relatively easy walk. Anything farther than that...I wouldn't do it.

There are now free shuttles provided by RCI that will take you from ship to ship (including Celebrity since they are owned by the same company.) Ask the purser's desk or the Crown and Anchor rep. and they will tell you were to go. (There's also the rental car shuttles that pick up and return passengers to and from different ships......however, I will not discuss this further because others got mad. :o)

Another free shuttle is the one that takes you from the ship to the parking area/building. Yes, there is a long wait as the driver will not leave until the shuttle is completely full.

On our most recent B2B2B...2 weeks on the Independence, then a 3rd week on the Royal Princess...we kindly asked the driver if he would drive us to a Princess ship, the free shuttle being for RCI passengers only...and fortunately for us, he was nice and gladly took us. We gave him a nice tip. All the other passengers didn't mind the deviation...they were all in a happy mood.

That said, perhaps taking the taxi is the easiest way. Yes, drivers do frown upon passengers who only wants to go to another ship. A happy and honest driver (the meter may not even move), will perhaps charge you $5. Another driver will tell you it's a set price of $8, or $10...you get the picture. Note: The price of taxi ride from Port Everglades to the airport is only between $12-$17.

You will have fun comparing both ships...happy sailing! :)
