Shareholder benefit

We will be using our CL shareholder benefit for the first time in November. We noticed on the benefit notice this line:

This benefit is not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash and, cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account.

We plan on pre-purchasing drink package and shore excursions (both things that the benefit could be used towards). If we don't buy anything in the shops, or any additional beverages, would they not apply it towards the account in general?

Any experience with the credit being used for stateroom gratuity and such? Seems like the credit would simply be taken off any onboard charges.

Although OBCs can have names, in reality, they go into a big pool that gets drained as you charge things to your card. Casino charges etc may not be directly to you shareholder OBC, but what is the difference if you have 200 in OBCs and the shareholder OBC pays $100 for tips and the other goes for $100 to the casino?

In the end, the funds will be spent and the credits will cover the charges.

Kinda what I was hoping for. I was wondering how they would designate one kind of OBC from another once onboard. Thanks.

If you are concerned about using up all of your OBC, then do not pay for all of the above in advance.
