Miami hotel with free shuttle

Try the Home Port thread, lots of hotel & transportation info on there.

Agree with JELAYNE this Question is best asked on the Homeport Forum (in fact the Mods may move it there on you)

That said...

Our experience is that Shuttles are great for service to & from Airports, and not so much to & from the Cruise Port

They tend to be somewhat disorganized, crowded, slow, make many stops (drag you all over town etc)

Taxis to the Port are easy & plentiful... And not very expensive

We hop a cab to elimate the stress... E-Day can be crazy enough... Why look for more stress ?

Cheers!

Does any one know of a pre-cruise hotel in Miami with a free shuttle?

Thank you, in advance.

We are flying into Miami a day early for our Feb Eclipse cruise and have the Embassy Suites booked with their cruise package. It includes free pickup at the airport, cocktail reception in the evening, free hot cooked to order breakfast in the am and free shuttle to the cruise port. Oh, and free wifi as well.

We have used this hotel in the past & loved it. Similar to many other Embassy Suites but we found the staff particularly helpful & nice. Enjoy.

Cheers!

Ps... Don't know if you have stayed here before or not... But hope you enjoy watching the planes take off as much as we did !!!

Only a few of the MIA airport area hotels offer "free" POM shuttles - besides the ES check the Springhill Suites Medical Center, La Quinta East, and Comfort Suites North.

Most choose to stay downtown, close to POM and pay for the cab ride (about $25 from MIA to downtown hotels and another $12 to POM). Good luck! :)

Thanks Sloop for the good comments, we are looking forward to this escape from winter very much! We love watching planes take off/land. One of our most fave excursions has been Maho beach in St. Maarten....am sure this won't come close but all good anyway!

did you book the embassy suites thru celebrity thanks john

Not sure if you're asking me, but no, we booked through the hotel website...seemed to get the best price that way...it's gone up a few dollars since we reserved but we can cancel short notice without penalty so if a better offer comes up we're not out anything at least!

If you want to stay out here, I'd check booking this hotel on your own. And using cabs.

Thanks eandj for the good advice...we arrive mid-afternoon the day before our cruise so we figure by the time we arrive at the hotel we might not have much touring time. I checked out the prices at some of the hotels closer to the beach but they were alot more expensive, especially when we added in breakfast and cabs from the airport and to the pier. We knew we'd be paying more for the time of year and we may just want to relax around the pool there anyway and enjoy the hopefully warmer weather. We may grab a cab to downtown to check out a restaurant for dinner, know any good fresh seafood places? We don't tend to go to the fast food or chain restaurants.

Thanks!

Lots of local dining options in the Mary Brickell area in downtown - but if you stay near MIA the round trip cab fare will be about $50+

There are nicer hotels near MIA with free airport (but not port) shuttles in the Blue Lagoon area - Homewood Suites, Sofitel, Hampton Inn, etc. There is a strip mall within walking distance with shopping and dining options and just a few blocks back toward the airport you can dine at 94th Aero Squadron - steaks & seafood. Cab to POM will be about $27+tip or most of the hotels can arrange for a shared shuttle for about $10 per person.

Good luck! :)

John is correct. ;) If you want to get a couple restaurants nearby to enjoy dinner, head to the BLue Lagoon Area hotels. You can do a google search and find them. Hampton Inn offers breakfast as well as some of the other chains like Cambria and Homewood. Check out that area, in your case it might be a better choice.
