Has anyone booked a guarentee balcony room and not been happy?

Recommended Posts

Booked guarantee cabin twice, once this year and once last year. Was happy both times. Got at least the level of cabin I guaranteed the first time

which was a Standard Ocean View, and this time got a bigger room of a Superior Standard Ocean view. Saved some money for other things got the size room I wanted.

We booked 3 GTY cabins for NOS Sep 3, two of them were booked with a TA and one with Royal Caribbean directly. We got a lot better deal with the cabin that we booked directly with RCCL than with the one with the TA. We paid for the lowest Balcony GTY and we got a D-2 (with RCCL) and an E-2 (with TA). I'm not that crazy with the location but like somebody said before I'm going to be able to change it if they have something better later on.

But guess what, I'm really happy that I'm sailing and that's what matters.

The key to being happy with a gaurantee cabin is to look carefully in detail at the deck plans and determine if the absolute worst cabin of the minimum gaurantee will be adequate. If you are expecting and wanting a Royal suite and you are booking a gaurantee ocean view you are most likely going to be unhappy.

We booked a guarantee balcony years ago. We got upgraded with our guarantee. Straight to the front of the ship on a high deck. I was sick half the time from being so far forward, heard the anchor at 6am or earlier and swore I would never do it again. I don't know about changing cabins after you are assigned. Hopefully, your luck will be better than ours.

Booked balcony quarantee three times now. As long as we get a balcony, any cabin is fine with us. Some people are afraid to be stuck by the stairs or elevator but we like them just fine. Since we don't get back from the casino until 1 or 2 am, being close to the stairs suits us.

The price our of Navigator cruise went down about 2 months before we sailed. I saw that we could upgrade from a D1 to a JS for only $110/pp. I looked at the available JSs and decided we would be happy with any of them. We made the change Sunday evening of the Memorial Day weekend, expecting not to get a room assignment until Tuesday at the earliest. Our new cabin was assigned on Memorial Day and it didn't change. We were very pleased with the cabin and location (as well as the 2 credits per person) :D

Good luck to you!
