Hello All,

Thought I might share a recent trip on Majesty of the Seas.

We have sailed on her 3 prior times. Any questions, please feel free to ask. :)

Majesty of Seas 4 Night Miami, Nassau, Coco Cay, Key West

Arrived Miami International Airport 11 am.

Took cab over to POM $25. What a speedy trip through the new Miami tunnel.

After quick efficient check-in, we were onboard at 12:30 and then up to Windjammer for Lunch, during lunch announcement made that cabins were ready. Wow!

Next, we made our way to cabin (8052) and changed into vacation attire. Found our luggage in hallway and unpacked. Then went back upstairs to pool area and deck 12 to mingle and enjoy the views of Miami harbor. Just FYI, the view from our cabin on Deck 8 was somewhat obstructed, we saw the bottom of the life rafts, however you can see the ocean below them and deck 7 walking area. So, if a window is important, ok, though not much view.

Muster Drill at 3:45, short and sweet. Back up to 12 for Sail-Away. The clouds had rolled in and it was a little breezy yet was enjoyable. Loved seeing those $$$ condos and yachts as ship departs POM.

Walked around the ship before getting ready for early dinner (6:30 Starlight Dining Room)

Menu – “Mojo “ Yummy Pork Chops

Evening activities included Production Cast show - songs and dances from the 70’s (a little long in my opinion) followed by the 70’s Disco show in the Centrum then the “Glow Party” in the Spectrum. Entertaining….

Day 2

Routine: Grabbed early morning coffee in my own travel mug from deck 12 (WJ does not open till 7), run and gym. Great photo ops as we arrived in Nassau.

Relaxing, enjoyable breakfast in Windjammer before we headed off the ship.

Our 5th time in Nassau, so we did not pre-arrange any excursions. We were considering going to Melia’s for the day, but it wasn’t overly sunny. We decided to start off by going to the Graycliff Hotel and I am glad we did. It’s just up the hill from the Dunkin Donuts, 10 minutes walking from the ship. I would highly recommend visiting. It’s a small historic hotel with lots of old photos, paintings and antique furnishings. The public rooms are a step back in time! Stroll out the back door and wander the lush landscaped grounds to the beautiful pool, continue and you’lll find the Graycliff Cigar factory and Gift Shop. I am not a cigar smoker, but I was impressed with the whole process of how they hand roll the cigars. There were 4 people working, each with their own specific task. You can purchase these items, but there is also a boutique shop across the street from the main entrance. We then took a quick walk through the chocolate factory and store. Yummy!

We were going to walk back towards the beach area, but got side tracked by some other tourists who were on their way to the John Watlings Rum distillery near the Art Museum. Again, we hadn’t been, so we decided to follow. This historical home was recently rehabbed and expanded into it’s current use. A large warehouse was built in the back to house the distillery and bottling. You can view the warehouse from a walkway, before entering back into the main building to sample, and purchase if you wish. Different Rum varieties: around $10.00 to sample three: pale rum, amber and Buena Vista. Can’t go wrong!!! Then, the 007 Daniel Craig photo op on property.

Stumbling back to the ship (no, not really). We spent a few more dolla’s supporting the local economy at the Straw Market. Munched on some really good conch fritters at a tiny shop window (corner of Fredericks) that is frequented by locals… we were drawn there by the line. We drank some Kalik beers in brown bags from the Liquor store across the street. Do as the locals do, works for me. Met a gentlemen that works for the Bahamian Government and he said that the Government collects $8 for every Cruise Passenger entering port. He said. “Please keep on coming to Nassau!”

Back on the ship by mid afternoon, light snack in the Compass Deli followed by some pool side entertainment:

Enjoyed watching the other ships sail away as we were there until midnight. Lots of waving and shouting “Bon Voyage” across the piers. It’s very interesting to see how different all these cruise ships are. Some have lots of balconies, others just a few, large waterslides on some etc.

Time for a little rest before getting cleaned up and dressed for formal night… I wore a jacket, but no tie. Some men had the tux, or a suit and tie, and others with just a nice shirt. So FORMAL NIGHT is not as formal as it has been, but enjoy the moment and take advantage of the many photo ops.

Menu – Saffron --- Dinner was great and enjoyed by other table mates. Half our table were first-time cruisers, with a variety of quirky pre-conceived notions.

After dinner, got my camera out and enjoyed a nice walk on the pier to take some pics of the Majesty in the dark with all the lights. Pretty cool!

Spent some time (and Money) in the casino – watched Evening show- the comedian, Kivi Rogers was pretty funny and then up to the Sail -Away midnight dance party at the Pool. Good people, Great Drinks , lots of fun until the wee hours!

Day 3 – Coco Cay - Early morning routine while arriving at Coco Cay. It was overcast, and the weather forecast said we may have a chance of showers. Saw the Norwegian Getaway arriving at GSC (directly next door island) around the same time. Good Breakfast and then took the Tender around 9:30. We walked past to the 1st couple of beaches to Bare Foot Beach (actually saw a motorized tram/cart) not sure if this is for all guests or just for those with difficulty walking. Found a couple of chairs near the Cabanette Club which is convenient to rest rooms and a bar. Enjoyed lounging for a while and then decided to take a walk to the end of the island. You can walk along the shore-line however in some areas it is quite rocky and you would need shoes, unless you want to wade in the water (3-4’ deep). At the end, it become all rock/coral and there are signs posted do not climb on rocks. Walked back on the Nature Trail and then on the trail that is on the Northside of the island – Great view of Majesty! Along the path there is also a lookout tower that gives you a full 360 view, and a couple of exercise stations ( hang/push bars, stair stepping logs etc.. Arrived back at camp, time for a quick dip and a couple COLD cervesas before we walked back towards the BBQ lunch area. Found a few empty chairs in front of the lagoon and ate a nice Caribbean BBQ lunch which includes Ribs, Chicken, Hamburgers, dogs, Rice and beans corn, assorted salads and desserts. Chicken is really good, looks a little strange, because they are drum sticks with the boney end chopped off!! After lunch, bought a few trinkets from the locals before taking the tender back to the ship.

Back on the ship – enjoyed some pool time. With some entertainment—Belly Flop Contest.

Dinner – Pomodoro “ Who likes Roast Lamb? Or Duck”

Shows --- Magic and Comedy by Chad Chesmark – funny and funnier!

Thursday – Key West - Cloudy and a little bit of rain early in the morning, so no sunrise shots. Could still see the Florida keys in the distance. We felt an occasional deck roll, as it is an area where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Gulf of Mexico. It was nothing to worry about, but kinda neat to see the water slushing back in forth in the pool. As we were officially re-entering the USA , Immigration checked all passengers and crew prior to being allowed off the ship starting around 9:15, Everyone was grouped in time slots based on Muster Station #. Unfortunately we had an 11:15 slot so it did cut into port time.

Once off the ship we walked to Dante’s Bar/Restaurant as planned. We knew we’d be in Key West during Fantasy Fest… OMG!!! So much fun!! And YES, we brought costumes. We spent the afternoon drinking, people watching (costumes were optional it seems) getting crazy pictures and generally being silly and having an awesome time. Several ship mates were there as well. It rained a bit. Bought a few more souvenirs and Hot Pepper Sauce … Several great photo ops on Duval Street and in Statue gardens right off Mallory square. Wobbled back on ship around 5:30.

Dinner, Menu Pimiento – “Best garlic shrimp ever”

Packed to leave luggage out by midnight

Entertainment -- Farewell production show, casino, Adult Comedy – Kivi is still funny!

Friday – Back in Miami - Arrived back in port around 6:15 am, after breakfast got off ship around 9 am, 15 minutes to get our luggage and 10 or so to get through customs. Very expedient. Never rushed or in a long line. Cab back to Airport where we rented a car to continue our Florida Vacation.

Things I wished I had done onboard – Climb the rock wall

Best staff members: Luis MDR table 450, all the bar tenders… and Natalia, a Black Jack dealer in Casino, yes, we are still friends.

Zig Zag Band – was terrific! They played in various locations on the ship. Good old Rock and Roll.

Our 3th time on Majesty Was the experience all that was promised, yes. Will we do it again? Sure. Is cruising the easiest and best value in vacation options – it may be! Make the most of every vacation day...Find a way explore a new areas in a port of call … Enjoy meeting people or a create new experience in a familiar place. Hope to sail on her at least one more time, before she is retired from the fleet

I was last on this cruise just about a year before you. I find it odd that they stay in Nassau and have formal night while the ship is still in port. The next night they are in Coco Cay and everyone has to be on board by around 3pm. Seems more logical to have formal night then. I guess even though they stay till midnight, they don't want you staying ashore and not spending money on the ship.

Glad you enjoyed it. I just got off today and it was the worst cruise I've ever been on. I found a lot of the staff to be rude, rushed and just unpleasant. We missed Coco Cay because of the wind, so we asked a guy walking by what time the pool bar opened and he shouted at us and asked us if 9am wasn't early enough for us. (Other cruisers turned around and were looking at him). The entire 2nd deck constantly smelled like a sewage cesspool. Last night we had to move rooms because sewage was back up and gurgling in our shower drain. Then while trying to get out of the room that smelled like wreteched ****, the steward told me to stay in because someone was violently vomiting in a cup right outside my room and he thought some got on the floors.

The ship was used and abused. All the chairs are stained ad gross. I DID NOT like it. My first and last time on Royal.

Briitini, What room were you in, we are sailing Nov 17/14 and we are on Deck 2

2534. I uploaded the video on YouTube, IG, their Facebook page etc. I also emailed several VPs within the company. IMO the 2nd floors constantly smelled like feces. It was just GROSS.

Don't get me wrong, I love Majesty, but if you're trying out RCI, you might have faired better if you didn't pick one of the oldest ships in the entire fleet.

All three times I've been on Majesty Ricky was the CD. While I thought he did a good job, especially with Quest, some of his monologues never changed. What do you think of the current CD?

carlos torres is the current CD, Seemed ok. Personable. For what I saw and heard.

We were on Her Majesty over Thanksgiving Weekend. We have cruised on her 10 previous times. We have enjoyed all of them. Carlos Torres was a good CD. What my husband found happening more than on our previous cruises was that everything was done in both English and Spanish. Every activity was hosted by someone from the entertainment staff that made their announcements in both languages. I did not find it disturbing, but where I work, that is done quite a bit.....on previous Her Majesty cruises, we probably did not have a CD that was bilingual, and that probably had a lot to do with it.

Fab report looking forward to it. Is everywhere walkable from the ship where you visited? Is it safe as have two young children.....:)

Thank you, Nassau is ok safety wise as long as you stay in the main tourist areas and during the day. As far as walking with younger children depending on their ages and ability. We probably covered 2 -3 miles in the course of walking around with breaks in between. There are some "hills" if you want venture to the old forts or queens staircase but definately doable as there are roads and or or sidewalks.

Hope that answered your question, if not let me know.

Thanks for the reply. They will be 9 & 5 so not too small. Was just interested in anywhere safe within walking distance from the ship, don't really want to do excusions or take taxis.... your visits sound fab and from the sounds of it they were all in walking distance?
