Jose Cuervo Experiance Thru Carnival

On Tuesday November 4, 2014, my wife and I took part of the “Tequila Experience presented by Jose Cuervo” through Carnival Cruise Lines. I am writing to show how dissatisfied I am, and how I feel I was taken advantage of. We met a lady “Patty” at the end of the pier to check in and to escort us over to the Discover Park where the experience was held. We were met out front by a younger male, not dressed in any type of uniform just street clothes, holding a tray of margaritas served to us in a Styrofoam cup.
We were then taken into a room with Patty, who turned out to be our “Master Tequilier” as well, which I highly doubt she was. She did do a fair job on explaining the origin of tequila but that’s about it. While in the room we had 3 samples of tequila in front of us: Blanco, Reposado and an Anejo that were sitting on a placemat that was wrote completely in Spanish because they were out of the English ones. Patty explained different techniques on how to drink them and how to enjoy them.
After we were done sampling the three different types we were led into the gift shop. While in the gift shop we were shown an exclusive family reserve. In the booking details it said that we were going to sample that one as well, but once in the gift shop the only way to sample it was to pay $2.00 each for about a half ounce. On a side topic, in the gift shop that special reserve was about $189.00, the same exact bottle can be purchased at the duty free next to the pier for about $100 less.
The next part of Carnivals details states “A taco buffet with handmade tortillas and six exotic, 100 percent Mexican salsas awaits, capped by a lesson in making the best Margaritas by our Jose Cuervo® mixology expert. “. The taco buffet consisted of only 2 small tacos, rice and black beans. There was zero salsas available. The margarita was also produced by a man in street clothes behind the bar outside and didn’t explain a thing while he was making them.
For the $70 each I paid for this excursion and what I received back was very deceiving in the booking details. I would never suggest this excursion to any one traveling to Cozumel and suggest that Carnival Cruise Lines and Jose Cuervo look into this and correct it. Both companies have their name on the line and I doubt it would meet their expectations.

Did you tell anyone at Carnival? They should know what your experience was like.

Also, you should post this on the Carnival site as a review on the page for that excursion. I put a link below. All the existing reviews are very positive, and I think people should have the complete picture by seeing your experience. In fact there is a review posted by someone from your cruise, and it is very positive. I think other people would like to know what they may get before booking. Sorry you had such an awful experience.

Sorry to say it but most excursions don't deliver the way they are described. We did they same type excursion but it was in Cabo San Lucas and was represented to show how they made the wine in the area. We were taken to the local museum and shown the same typed of things as your experience.

They then took us to an old warehouse where there were some old wine barrels and were told how they make the wine, but no wine was being processed there nor had it been for many years. We did get to sample a few wines, and of course lots to sell to us, but was not worth the money.

Since this experience I have learned to read about an excursion and lower my expectations to about half of what they say. Using the ports of call section here on CC has also helped me to find excursions with real reviews that I trust more.

We did this same excursion in Cozumel , on Disney Cruise Line in Feb..
Different results . We enjoyed it and would recommend it .
Seems it may be inconsistent .
Better to post on Ports of Call , Caribbean Board where all can see.

If you ever get to Ensenada, do the wine tour. It was worth it to us. We went to the actual wineries (2 of them) and sampled several wines. The first winery was L.A.Cetto. We were also served cheese and bread Upon boarding the bus, each passenger received a bottle of Cabernet which was excellent. The next winery, we were served 4 different wines and we were also served small pizzas and jalapeno stuffed bread. This was one excursion we felt we got our money's worth. We'll be in Ensenada in January and have booked the same excursion.

To the OP. As others have suggested, leave your experience at the excursion review link. Maybe Carnival will look into it and see to it that you get what you paid for and what the excursion described. Good luck.
