Just returned from the Sensation. We were told NO more "Drinks On Us' cards for short cruises. Well, felt over 4,000 points isn't appreciated any more. FYI, they had both 3-2 and 5 -6 at black jack and roulette was $1 dollar chips.

When I have the Drinks card I tip a buck by signing on the comp slip every couple drinks and I am never without. Waiters are back every 15 minutes.

Ditto. I've had waiters bring me drinks without asking because they were going on break and wanted to be sure I had one. A buck or two for every drink goes a long way for better service with the free drinks.

And yes, the free drink cards have been gone from shorter cruises for at least a year or two in my experience. I got almost 9000 points on a 3-night cruise in 2012 and didn't get a card because they didn't have them. After 5000 points on a 7-night cruise earlier this year, I asked about a drink card on my last 4-night cruise and was told no, because they don't have them. But the casino host covered every single one of my drinks. All you have to do is ask them to check your history. :)

While on the liberty in Oct. I received the drink card on the 2nd day out. But on the first night, talked to the pit boss, and he covered all my drinks that day. Also tipped my waiter a 5 dollar chip and from that day on, he made sure I was never without a drink, sometimes two, and would always check on me. So tipping does really help.;)

And no past guest party on a 4 nighter either. That was disappointing too. I just got off on the 30th.

When has there ever been one on cruises of less than 5 days?

I don't know. When I used to do the very short ones I didn't notice. This was my first short one since then. It was a Carnival Live sailing. Got spoiled attending them and really felt a little jilted ;)

I also tip a 1.00 for every free drink and never had a problem waiting too long. I would get asked before my drink was empty.

Am I reading this correctly? Art you saying that you only tip every other drink you receive? So once out of every two free drinks you stiff your cocktail server? And you're looking for accolades because you occasionally tip them? Please tell me that I've misinterpreted your statement.

I get the drink on us cards most cruises - and have been told by the casino hosts (conquest and freedom) that the casino pays the standard tip generated from the on us card - So they get their tips from the casino - even if you just sign the ticket and don't add a tip. I use cash to tip with and they keep me in drinks (soda and water - since I don't really drink). I think they have more staff on the premiere cruises - they are always asking a minute apart on those cruises - imo.

Correct, the 15% gratuities is included on all drinks under the Drinks On Us card so anything extra is extra.
