Nick and Nora's question.

I am normally a die hard fan of the MDR experience. I never want to miss one single night of the Chocolate melting cake. I always enjoy it enough without paying the extra charge. However, after browsing the food porn and reviews for Nick and Nora's, I have decided that I might like to try it on on my upcoming trip on the Miracle (I can always sneak into the MDR on that night to get my melting cake fix.)

My question is this: what do you get for the extra charge? All of the items look so scrumptious that I would have a hard time ordering just one starter. I am probably good with one entree but there's no way to decide between the carpaccio, onion soup, sushi... jeeez ...or any of them.

Also, does anyone know which nights are the formal nights on a six day Mexican riviera cruise? (I think I will post a seperate thread on this one also)

On a six day cruise, the formal nights are usually on nights 2 and 5. From my past 17 cruises on Carnival, I can unequivocally state that the worst night menu wise in the MDR is night 3. This would be the night we usually eat in the Steakhouse, unless we decide to do it the last night, because it's a great way to end your cruise.

Now, with regards to your course choices.....you start out with the Amuse Bouche, which is a 1 bite appetizer from the chef. You can then pick an appetizer, a soup, a salad, a main entree, 2 side dishes and a dessert. With regards to the soups, the French Onion is more filling than the Lobster Bisque, so I would go with a light appetizer such as the Beef Carpaccio if I was getting the Onion soup. If I was getting the Bisque, I would choose a seafood app like the jumbo shrimp cocktail or the crab cake.

The porterhouse steak is no longer an option, so the cowboy steak or the strip steak are good. With regards to dessert, this is where they fall flat. Many people like the chocolate sampler or the mile high cheesecake, but I like Bitter n Blanc or the Grand Marnier souffle from the MDR much better. The home made ice creams are a pretty good option.

The only thing you cannot order more than 1 of, is an entree. Other than that, the sky is the limit.

i found this not to be true.

I can do two appetizer and forgo the salad portion. Was NEVER able to get both.

Even doing the two appetizers it is a LOT of food even for a hearty appetite
