Thanks for the post, makes me even happier that we cancelled this cruise - no amount of OBC will compensate for the disruption...particularly with so many 'at sea'days.

Looking forward to Allure in Sept.

Received this email today at 17:08 Re the Dubai to Singapore Cruise

As we make our transition from the United States to China we will be doing some enhancements onboard to prepare for our arrival in China. Due to the extent of the work required in certain areas, some venues will need to be closed while these improvements are taking place. Music Hall will need to be closed for the duration of your sailing. The live entertainment usually presented in Music Hall will be relocated to other venues in the ship. “Mamma Mia” will not be in production during your sailing in order to prepare for our new show “Sequins and Feathers.” However, the theatre will be open and providing a variety of world-class guest entertainers Emperors of Soul, Westcoast and Masters of the House as well as our own singers and dancers. In addition, Johnny Rockets will be closed for some improvements, but you’ll still be able to enjoy hamburgers, hotdogs and fries at the Windjammer Marketplace or the poolside grill. North Star also will be closed for the first five days of your voyage, but will then open for regular operation for the remainder of your trip. The casino also will be going through a series of enhancements and will be closed for the first seven days of your voyage. A new and expanded casino will be available for your enjoyment on June 6, 2015.

As a gesture of goodwill, and to thank you for your patience with the closures and your understanding regarding the work that may be visible from time to time, Royal Caribbean International would like to provide you with an onboard credit. This credit will be automatically applied to your onboard account. You may spend these credits at any venue on the ship – from the spa and shops to the specialty restaurants, bars, lounges, and the casino – and on shore excursions. The choice is yours:

Onboard Credit Amount per Stateroom

Suites (Junior Suites & Above): $1,000

Balcony: $500

Interior and Ocean View: $400

We will do our very best to minimise any further inconvenience to you and our shipboard team looks forward to welcoming you onboard.

It looks like they waited until after payment deadline before announcing this, wonder if they will offer a refund based on it not being the cruise that was originally sold!!

Gonna be a lot of unhappy campers!!!

We were on the March 29 sailing which was the sailing right after norovirus. On boarding day, we were not able to board until 1:00pm because of deep cleaning. Then once on board we were not able to get in our cabins until 7:30 pm which meant we had to carry our our carryons. We went to our 5:30 dinner at the Grande with our luggage. No compensation from RCCL. Many new trainees on board and many did not understand English.

I'm still not sure whether i'm happy about this. It is a decent level of compensation, but with the closure of pretty much the whole of deck 3 for the first 7 days i feel it may be pretty cramped in the evening!

Does anyone know where the 'quest' game show is usually held on quantum. We love it!

Quest wasn't held on the Feb 2nd sailing.

I don't really understand why RCI keep insisting on butchering their ships, and a brand new one at that, just to pander to a market they will only be spending 6 months in. I can understand making certain changes to the menus, but there isn't really a need to expand the casino when the one already there is large enough.

Do they reverse these changes when they pull the ships out?

They are spending longer than 6 months on Asia, currently Quantum is based in Asia for the long term future (2016/2017 season included)

The scope and magnitude of the changes indicates that Quantum will be deployed to China long term, just just for a year or two.

Now I am really confused, does this mean Mamma Mia will no longer be in Quantum and gets replaced by Sequins and Feathers?

Or

Both Mama Mia and Sequins and Feathers will be in Quantum while it is in Asia? Just so happen that Mama Mia will not be in production just for Dubai to Singapore leg, but will resume on the next sailing from Singapore???

Your first scenario is correct. Mamma Mia is going to Allure after it leaves Quantum.

Quest was held in the SeaPlex on my cruise (March 21st-29th). However, that was only the third Quest that was held on the Quantum. Ken Rush was the CD on that cruise & if he's not the CD on your cruise, it would be hard to say if the ship would even have it. Ken brought it back after he found out that the earlier cruises did not have it.

Is that what he told you?

Ken was the CD for my Feb 2nd Quantum cruise and the one before, neither had Quest, so he obviously "found out" that he hadn't been doing it. Nice cover to make himself look good though.

I do think $250 is an acceptable amount for what they are doing and for all the disruption

We are on Barcelona to Dubai leg and agree with you. Particularly since we UK cruisers paid so much more. Sent e mail to Stuart Leven UK Director expressing our disappointment. Had a phone call from Resolutions department yesterday. They have had a lot of complaints but will not increase OBC.

Send them an e mail the more of us who complain the better

We are on the dubia to singapore leg, I've sent an email to to Mr Bayley yesterday to express my feelings, I know it won't do much good but I felt better after sending it. I feel they have been so devious, I asked them in an email in February and was no told no plans for this leg of the cruise! I know some have been offered a refund but with flights, hotels, visas we would lose too much, which is what RCL are relying on. We will have a good holiday because a holiday is what you make it but really disappointed with how RCL have handled this...

Do you mean you don't think it's acceptable?

A Quantum cruise in February had an electrical problem for 1 NIGHT! They got free drinks till 10pm & every passenger got a 10% credit to the value of what they paid for that cruise to use for a future cruise. Doesn't seem fair really when we are inconvenienced for most of our journey & get some OBC... We are on the Dubia to Singapore sailing...

As I've just said in a previous post - a holiday is what you make of it but it just leaves an unpleasant taste in my mouth at how this has been dealt with by RCL

I read this as OP felt $250 was not acceptable. Maybe I misread!!

Yes I meant to say I think it is NOT acceptable for all the disruption that will be going on. I thiink it is also unfair to give $500 to people in a balcony cabin on the following cruise. Why should they get double to what we are going to get on the Barcelona to Dubai cruise. Both cruises are going to have disruption.
