Rare dronnygirl Posted November 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2014 I would always recommend taking a taxi at the port in the Caribbean. They are much cheaper than the ships trips and the drivers know the islands very well. Sometimes you have to share a mini bus with a few others, but we like the company. The taxis are reliable and always get you back to the ship in good time.
Rare Host Sharon Posted November 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2014 I booked private tours in the Caribbean and they were great - take a look in the ports section of Cruise Critic for suggestions and ideas http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
LondonTowner Posted November 13, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 13, 2014 I have to agree with dronnygirl. All the Caribbean islands are organised for getting tours sorted out. We have been to quite a number of the islands and on average I think we have paid about 25USD for an island tour. We very rarely d ship excursions. They are too expensive and we don't want to be in a coach with 50 other people.

In my (admittedly limited) experience, most Caribbean tours don't use 50-seater buses.
