Disembarking a Day Early

We are doing a French Polynesia cruise next year on the Pacific Princess with a post-cruise stay in Moorea. The ship stops for the final full day in Moorea before returning that overnight to Tahiti for disembarking the early the next morning.

Is there any Princess or any other issue with us being able to disembark when in Moorea so we don't go the final night to Papeete just to turn around and ferry back to Moorea?

Do we need to notify Princess or anyone else in advance of the cruise that we intend to do so?

Besides paying for the final ship's night/dinner and not using it (but saving the hassle of traveling unnecessarily to Papeete just to pay to return to Moorea) are there any other issues/thoughts we should consider?

Thanks!

You'll need to obtain permission from Princess to disembark early. There will likely need to be immigration and customs officials available at the port the day you want to disembark which Princess will arrange if they can.

You'll also miss breakfast the next day! (And I assume pay for an extra night on land?)

It looks like there are lots of ferries every day, and they're pretty cheap, so the main hassle would be your luggage. Maybe you could leave most of your luggage in Moorea when the ship stops there and finish the cruise with a small overnight bag.

Also keep in mind that ports are never guaranteed, so if for some reason the ship is unable to call to Moorea, you won't be able to disembark until Papeete.

Our Quebec City to FLL cruise this month had a final port stop scheduled for Charleston, SC where approximately 40 of the passengers were due to disembark early. We got as close to the dock as possible when the Captain and local pilot decided to cancel the stop due to current (and predicted) high winds. They were right - we went threw a force 9 storm that day. Those folks had to stay on the ship for 2 more days until we reached FLL.
