Sousaphone Posted November 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2014 Any tour company recommendations for Tasmania? Want to see Tassies, kangaroos, etc. and will be in port from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Do we have time to go to Bonorang Sanctuary?
Aus Traveller Posted November 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2014 (edited) Yes you would, but it depends on how you plan to get there. We enjoyed our visit to Bonorong. We were in our own vehicle doing a land tour when we went there. There is a public bus, but from Hobart it takes up to two hours with a change of buses. If you feel it is worth the cost of hiring a car for the day you would be able to visit Bonorong, the historic town of Richmond and several other places in the day. Probably trying to add a visit to Port Arthur on to Bonorong would be trying to do too much in the time available. On Bonorong's website (near the bottom) they mention that cruise ship passengers should contact them for details of a tour company that can organise your visit. Worth a visit to see our wildlife, don't try and do Port Arthur as well, stop at Richmond and pretty sure Bonorong have a deal with a tour operator. If you self drive remember we drive on the left side of the road.

We used them on our Perth-Sydney cruise in 2012. Covered Bonorong Park plus lots of other interesting locations. She is very flexible.
Bookish Angel Posted November 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) Loved it as we got to see the sights up and back, talked to lots of locals and had a great time. Our way was about half than the ship's excursion. From the bus stop to Bonorong is a longish invigorting walk that we enjoyed but some of the others found the hills a bit steep. Sousaphone Posted November 17, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted November 17, 2014 Can highly recommend a company called showyoutasmania. We used them on our Perth-Sydney cruise in 2012. Covered Bonorong Park plus lots of other interesting locations. She is very flexible. Unfortunately Show You Tasmania was fully booked for the date we're in port, so we're still looking for an alternative tour. They were our first choice! :)
