Teen Boys - Formal Nights

I called Princess and asked if it is appropriate for my sons to wear khaki pants and blue suit jackets for formal nights and they said, "Absolutely fine."

However, I am having doubts after reading all the posts. I am wondering if they should be dressed in dark suits? Do people rent tuxes for their older teens?

If they're older teens, I think the dark suit is a good choice. If they were 13 or 14, then the sport coat would be great, but once they get older, I think it's important for them to dress as the adults would. But, if the blue sport coat is all they have or want, they'll be fine. They can rent tuxes on board, and I think they will feel and look fantastic.

I agree: what you've mentioned sounds fine. My son went on cruise with us when he was 16 and 17. He wore long sleeved shirts, ties, and dark pants on formal nights. I've seen quite a few young men dressed this way on all my cruises recently, also.
