online checkin /travel companions/my celebrity question

I started doing online checkin after logging into "My Celebrity" and there was an option "Travel Companions".

I didn't know what that would do so didn't use it.

 

But I could enter info for online checkin for all three people in my cabin

 

When or why would filling in the info for travel companions be useful?

It's not. I thought by filling it out that it would auto-populate the fields when I did online check-in, but Celebrity's website isn't that smart.

The only time it would be useful would be if you were traveling with friends and/or family and wanted your reservations linked so you would be assigned to the same table in the MDR. I let my TA handle all that, so I'm not sure what takes place behind the curtain.

It's more useful for the next cruise you take as it will auto fill in details for your travel companions based on the information you've given for this cruise.

 

There are certain sections such as travel or insurance where it will also auto fill the same information for the companions as the lead passenger when selected. I use it everytime I check in online :)
