Bad weather today. Emerald skipping Belize

Due to high winds at night it became too dangerous for us to sail to Belize. The captain announced other cruise ships have done the same. Sad that I will be missing the one excursion I was really wanting to do... The Luminai (sp) ruins. Will make the best of our day at sea. The captain announced a new schedule of events will come out soon. Kicked off the day in the DaVinci dining room with an excellent frittata.

Is this kind of weather typical for November in Belize? I'll be on the Emerald sailing Jan. 18, 2015 and Belize is the only port of the 3 the ship stops at that I was really interested in, for cavetubing. Hopefully weather in this part of the Gulf of Mexico will have calmed down by then.

We've had four post stops in Belize in the Jan/Feb time frame and have made them every time. :)

It's a shame you had to miss going to Lamanai. Hopefully, you will have to opportunity to go there in the future. We were there in 2011. It's a great excursion. Now you have a good reason to book another cruise. :)

This part of central America (including Roatan) gets the majority of their rainfall between mid October and mid January, so yes it is typical.

So sorry to hear that! That's got to be disappointing.

I hope you have a great time in Cozumel. Maybe you could head over to the mainland and see Tulum if you are interested in ruins.

We are doing the same itinerary in 2 weeks. Could you please tell me what time was the muster drill, and when are the formal nights? Thanks so much.

How much was the refund of the port taxes for missing this port? Was it added to your ship account or credited to the CC used to pay for the cruise?

We leave Sunday, I hope we don't miss the port too. Belize is the only stop we have that we booked an excursion. Hopefully the weather will be good for us. Cruise I did back in May missed Roatan due to wind. Was the first time I have ever missed a port stop. Though we don't have anything planned there or Cozumel for this trip.
