Cheers or individual drinks

Going on a 4 day cruise and wondering if cheers is worth it. Does anyone have a bar menu? How many drinks would we have to drink to make it worth it?

Here's a link to a cheat sheet to see if it's worth it to you. Over the course of a day, if you have 6 beers and 3 shots, you're ahead of the game.

Thank you. That's great information exactly what I was looking for. Now what about tax? I've read that you are charged tax when you purchase cheers package. But I've also read that you are charged tax each time that you purchase a drink. Then your sign and sail would have a bunch of charges. Hoping its just one charge.

No tax when purchasing the package.

Applicable state and local taxes will be charged to the guest folio when this program is used within US waters. The tax is based on the state’s tax structure and the cost of the individual drink purchased (not the daily program rate). For example: if the drink price is $5 and the tax is 10%, the guest’s Sail & Sign card will be charged $0.50 for tax. This applies to all US ports (embarkation home ports and ports-of-call).

Need some math help here. DW does not drink, maybe like 2 wines a day. I can do my share of the 15 a day. So I have to buy for both of us at $334.64 for a short 3 day cruise, right?

Now on the above link it says that sodas and non-alcoholic frozen drinks are included in the Cheers Program..is this right? SO currently how much is a single soda on the ship? How much is a non-alcoholic frozen drink on the ship...average price?

I am trying to figure out if it is worth it if she drinks 2 wines and 2 sodas and 1 frozen non-alcoholic drink each day and I get my breakeven or better.

Thanks... Oh yea we are only going to Nassau so most likely will not get off the ship from Thursday morning - Sunday Morning, 3 nights.

that's correct. soda is 1.95 and non-alcoholic frozens are 4.95.

with my numbers and my past experience with the cheers program if your wife does as you said she will and you do 7 drinks a day you should be right on target. Don't forget that the pkg. includes the tips! Ya know martinis made with top shelf stuff are included also!:D

Thank you so much for posting this, I am trying to convince my husband to get it because we are going on a 7 day and I think it will be worth it but he thinks it going to be to much and we won't drink our moneys worth. Ill show him this and hopefully he might change his mind. :)

You're quite welcome....just paying it forward. The last line on the chart is incorrect though. If you buy a drink that is over 10.00 before the 15% tip, you pay the entire amount of the drink, less 25%, not just the difference. So, if you drink a shot of tequila that is 10.95, you'll pay 8.21 for it, not the 0.95 difference.

One other benefit is that you can try different drinks that you have never tried before with no worries about cost. If you don't like it, just order a different one! No worries in the casino or show either, where in the past I kept thinking, I want a drink, but how much will it cost, or selecting the cheaper wine at dinner. You will use it more than you think you will because it is all "included". No guilt mimosas in the morning!

I agree that you will use it. I figured that by getting it i was avoiding any surprise bill at the end of the cruise. I never hit the 15 mark but was able to try different things that I probably would not have purchased. It was well worth it in my opinion.

Great Chart - thank you. I am going to purchase it for my 2 boys (21 & 23) but I plan to have them buy me a few per day. haha I like the DOD

I have no problem with the price but wish they did not restrict it to everyone in your cabin. Now i have to rearrange our cabins so that i only have to buy 2.

Is the best way to do this before or wait til on board.

We just did Cheers on our cruise last week. Definitely got our money's worth. We mostly drink beer and wine but mixed it up with a few mojitos ($8.75), Grey Goose martini's ($9.95), frozen drinks ($7.50) and my husband did a few shots of Patron ($9.75). And although we like Barefoot (the $6.00 wine) just fine, we chose the Hess Select at $9.50 per glass. We didn't even bring our 2 allowed bottles of wine on. The more time you plan on spending on the ship the more worth it the package is.

Keep in mind for a 7 day the cost per day goes down some. It is only $37.50+ 15% pp per day. The chart is based on shorter cruise lengths. That might help convince him it is worth it. My DW and I are going on a 7 day next month and we will be taking advantage of the program.

This isn't true anymore, unfortunately :(. It is $49.95+15% gratuity/pdpp no matter what the length of the cruise is. We were lucky and sailed at the $37.50 price in October but it changed right after that.

My husband and I did the Cheers program for a 4 day cruise. We got our money's worth. We also both agreed that there was added value - no worrying about money or price of drinks, it was well worth it to us!

I totally agree! I've done it three times so far on 7-night cruises and plan to do it on my 4-night Inspiration cruise next month :).

In the last, I've only cruised out of Texs which meant that we couldn't purchase the Cheers program until the first Sea Day. This time we will be sailing out of New Orleans on a 7 day cruise. So to confirm that my math is right:

7 days * 2 cruisers over 21 in the cabin * $49.95/day = $699.30 + 15% tip (104.90) = $804.20! Is that correct?

Yep! That's what we paid for our 7-day cruise :).

The chart was dated 10/25/14 and is based on the current pricing, which has gone up to 49.95 per day, plus 15% tip, no matter the length of your cruise.

That is so frustrating... I just asked my CVP about that 2 weeks ago and he told me the wrong information. Thanks.

So, if I have the Cheers package and I want a drink that cost $8.75 before 15% gratuity, it would be included, correct? It is any drink $10 or less before adding the 15% gratuity? You only pay gratuity once when you purchase the package (unless you want to tip extra, of course), correct? Also, are drinks of the day included in the package?
