kruthcruiser Posted December 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2014 Any recommended Trip Insurance company? I have seen in forums Trip Insurance cost comparisons sites but I am looking for a recommendation of a good reasonable company itself.

Toledosfinest Posted December 5, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 5, 2014 I've used http://www.insuremytrip.com several times. You can shop different policies and prices. You can just get medical for under $50 a week. I know my own insurance will cover me, but the extra policy will handle the deductible and a few other things if needed. cb at sea Posted December 5, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 5, 2014 If you use a credit card to pay for your cruise, check it,....many times, your credit card offers trip insurance!
papaflamingo Posted December 5, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 5, 2014 Lately I've been taking out RCCL's insurance. About the same money, don't have to buy it until final payment, and has the 75% cancel for any reason. But you really need to decide what is the most important feature of insurance for you and find the policy that fits best. Insuremytrip really does allow you to compare many policies. I'll give you an example. Last year we went on a New Years cruise with my son and DIL. He is a Navy pilot so it was important to find a policy that would allow us to cancel if his Leave was cancelled. We found one that allowed all 4 of us to cancel if his Leave was cancelled. That was the biggest "threat" for that cruise. Obvious stuff, illness, death in family, etc. are covered by all policies. But cancelled leave is very hard to find. Fortunately we didn't have to cancel, but it was close. When Syria started to erupt late last year, his Air Wing was on standby to go. He came close to a early deployment. One other example, I have been in a position where it was possible my vacation would be cancelled. So I bought a policy that would "cancel for work reasons." So, consider the most likely scenario that you are insuring against, and buy a policy that will cover it.
SPacificbound Posted December 5, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 5, 2014 Decide what you want to insure. For example the whole trip costs, along with medical & evacuation, or just medical and evacuation. We consider ourselves self insured for trip costs so we only buy medical and evacuation. The advice for Trip Insurance Store or Insure My Trip is good advice. There are so many different coverages and it isn't "one size fits all".
