algaes Posted December 7, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 7, 2014 We went on a combination Italian bus/river cruise several years ago with the river portion in and out of Venice. It was nice having the river ship as a base while in Venice a handful of bridges from St Mark's. Po River has difficulty maintaining navigable water depths in typical vacationing months. Also check maps and you'll see there are no significant tourist destinations adjacent to the eastern flow of the Po. What stops we made required switching to buses from shorelines not designed for passenger unloading/loading.

Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted January 7, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 7, 2015 There is one River Cruise in Italy: Uniworld's Venice & the Gems of Northern Italy. This has been discussed recently on the River Cruising forum: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2141945

Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted January 7, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 7, 2015 CroisiEurope also sail the Po with one of there barges. Pat Which is a good segue to remind folks that CroisiEurope will be hosting a Q&A on Cruise Critic starting Jan. 19. That would be a good place to ask about this cruise, or any of their other unique itineraries (e.g. the Guadalquivir and Guadiana rivers in southern Spain and Portugal).
