Carnival Glory Questions

We are sailing in the Carnival Glory next year to the Eastern Caribbean (Half Moon Cay Itinerary.) We are trying to figure out if we made the right decision, because we have heard some things on the Glory that are different the rest of the fleet. This is our very first cruise ( We were scheduled to sail on the Carnival Dream in January, Eastern Itinerary.) We are particularly curious about the dining room menus, and how they have changed. We have seen some of the menus online and they don't look as good as the other menus. Will we be disappointed with the dining?

We just got off the glory the first week in November. We had super time and food was great! Guys Burgers are good and the Dining room was great. Just small portions, but you can order as much as you want.

How was the service onboard, we really want to make this the perfect cruise for my son, who is a cruise fanatic, and was super disappointed when we had to cancel our Dream cruise.

Room stewart was awesome! Dining room service could have been a little better. But overall would like to take another vacation on the Glory. It was a really great cruise.

We have five Glory cruises under our belt, the most recent with the new menus. My only complaints? (1) The Bitter n Blanc dessert wasn't on the menu and (2) the menus themselves are "clunky." I really liked the food with the American Table/Feast menu and aside from B&B didn't miss anything. I wouldn't worry about the menus.

We saw Motor City, Epic Rock and Latin Nights Dec 3-11 on the Glory. First 2 were better than Latin Nights- but that just may not be my 'cup of tea'. But the Miami crowd sure loved it. It's not Broadway, but still entertaining. Not sure why some complain so much about it. Just don't go if you don't care for it...

 

You can skip that Hasbro game- they had it as the main show one evening and then 'Part 2' in late afternoon on a sea day. They drag it out so long you end up not caring who wins. More for the Camp Carnival kids.

 

Do go to Dr E's 'music trivia' in the evening- not like all the other trivia played during the day. He hosted it 2 nights- all different songs. Very fun.

The Glory is our favorite Carnival ship. We have the Magic and the Triumph 27 miles away and have sailed the Glory twice in the past two years, once to Canada and once on the route you are taking. Our cruising history has us going back to the Mardi Gras and nine ships in between for 150 nights at sea.

 

The food menus are the new format, and we did fine getting enough quality meals. Guys is predictable, the burritos at the Blue Iguana are super for breakfast and no lines at the omelet station at the aft pool after our morning runs.

 

Our first time we celebrated an anniversary so the Ocean Suite was in order. Wow, my wife had her own closet and sink. This September we had a lido balcony and it was super.

Go. Get a cabana at Half Moon Cay. Get number 10-12. You won't regret it. Take the speedboat snorkel excursion in St Thomas. We swam alongside a sea turtle. Do your own thing in San Juan, it's hot and we walked around Old San Juan and shopped.

Snorkel in Grand Turk. We saw lots of fish right in the shadow of the ship.

With the exception of "Epic Rock," I didn't care for the new shows. Too many bright lights, canned music - and they just didn't appeal to me. I much prefer the live music shows. It's not a deal breaker for me - we found plenty of entertainment elsewhere (a really good band at the casino). We're sailing on Breeze in July, and we'll just skip the shows.

Loved the crew on the Glory. Shows were good missed Karaoke other than super star and that was fun loved StThomas and Grand Turk!

Was on the Glory over Turkey day and was happy overall. Anytime dining, ask for Kittyphong, table # 198. Meal start to finish was great and fast, party of 9-10 depending. Other two nights, meals were over 2 hours with a lot of waiting. New style menus were ok, plenty of choices for all. Elegant nights, there were NO SHORTS ALLOWED, at least our party was denied entrance as others were allowed. We were dressed conservatively, no basketball or torn shorts. Anyway loved Guys and fish and chips. Hated the Bacon Police, always seemed to get only broken, greasy pieces and the stare if I asked for "just a little more". Rooms were average for cruise ships.

No cruise is perfect, if you set reasonable expectations you should have a good cruise experience. I hope you'll come back and share your vacation here. :)

Just off our 4th Glory cruise. It is our favorite ship as well. The staff is exceptional with all members working hard to ensure you have a great cruise experience.

Our room steward was fantastic and our dining room staff was very responsive to our needs. It was my first experience with the American Feast menu and found it to be fine. I missed the bitter n blanc dessert but never went hungry.

 

I look forward to my next cruise on the Glory.

Going on our 2nd trip on the Glory in May 2015, just went last April 2014 and we've sailed 4 other Carnival Ships. We really liked the Glory. Dining staff was great, and we've had both the old and the new menu- really wasn't a huge issue for us at all. Guys Burgers and Iguana bar & Fish & Chips station were quick and easy. We did not do the Anytime dining and had a set time to dine (we heard that many people had to wait awhile for food at the anytime dining- however we had prompt service from appetizers to dessert so no complaints here).

We have sailed on the Glory pre and post 2.0, She is a great ship, as a matter of fact this will be our first ( we sail in 5 days!) Carnival cruise that isn't on the Glory!
