Constellation to Asia??

I just read on another thread that the Constellation would be moving to the Asian market. I was wondering if this was true and if so when is this proposed to happen? We are on the Millennium next March and love the Constellation, much more so than the Millie.

Hello…

Starting Nov 2016 the Connie ports in Abu Dhabi, and does several cruises from there (UAE and India)…then in January 2017 moves to Singapore and does several Asian itineraries…the list of dates and cruises has been posted on the Celebrity Website for viewing/booking.

Here is the Flyer from the website:

Any ideas on what ship will take over the short cruises from Port Everglades?

The Caribbean itineraries through April of 2017 just came out. There is only one 4 nighter listed on Silhouette. The rest are on Equinox, Eclipse, Silhouette and Reflection, ranging from 6 to 14 nights.

And just to be clear, after Constellation does her short Asian season, she is going back through the Suez Canal in April of 2017 and presumably, back to her "normal" European itineraries.

It looks like the regular 4 and 5 day short trips out of Florida are no more, which kind of makes as it creates a bit of a different experience than the longer more typical Celebrity cruises we've been on. Capacity wise, RCCI has ships that can fill this boat (pun definitely intended) sailing out of Florida.

Happy sailing,

Jenna

Problem is, we don't want to sail Royal Caribbean as we feel it doesn't come close in many respects to Celebrity. What does bother us is an appearance that X continues to remove ships out of the North American market without replacing the ones they redeploy. Just wonder how many want to cruise in the part of the world where they're putting Constellation, for many reasons. Instability in the region plus insane airfares are just two of the reasons why many won't choose X.

We can discuss the business decisions all we like, but the fact remains, there is over supply in the Caribbean and growth potential in the Asian and Australian markets. Airfare is not bad if you consider comparing it and cruise fare to inflation.

Either way RCCIn and Celebrity have made the decision to try this and as part of it no doubt took the possibility into account they'd loose some loyal Caribbean cruisers to other lines. If it bombs, they of course can risk upsetting those passengers (like us and our friends) who are bored of the Caribbean and have booked these new itineraries.

Happy sailing,

Jenna

I think that they will have no problem filling all Asian region cruises with Asian and Australian cruisers. I don't think that they are looking for too many Nth Americans to take the long trip over. There is something like 60% of the world population over here in the East. Also plenty of Russians now taking vacations.

We have cruised in Asia twice, 14 days with Azamara and 28 days on Celebrity and by far the greatest number of pax were US citizens followed by Canadians and Brits. Didn't notice/meet any Australians but we did have a group of Chinese at the 10 top next to us in the MDR. Upon talking to them we found out they were Engineers all from the same company travelling with their wives and they worked (and were born) in Vancouver! LOL. We haven't been to the Caribbean in 5 years and no plans to until we see the rest of the world. Still want to do the Suez, India etc and also Norway and Iceland.

What we found from our land trip to China is the Chinese love the short 3-4 cruises. Gambling is illegal in China (reason Macao flourishes) and these short cruises to nowhere are for casino time:). The longer itineraries have mainly North Americans. We are going back to Asia this Oct (Tokyo-Hong Kong on the Millie). And it's a longer, or just as long a flight for our friends who are flying from the Gold Coast. Fiji and Bali are their Caribbean.

Well, we are two US cruisers who have booked the Constellation cruise out of Abu Dhabi to India in Dec '16. We happily spend our money for the lines that offer exotic itineraries, as Caribbean and Mexico do very little to interest us. There are plenty of ships available to those of you who prefer to stay close to home. We appreciate the lines who give us the opportunity to see something different. On a side note, both this cruise and our Oct '15 cruise on Solstice out of Sydney are filling up very well.

Hey Jenna, :)

Lyuba's vote is for November sailing (B2B) - it does look amazing!:)

T.

We'd love to sail with you again, Constellation needs a reunion!

I want to start in Rome, because it includes Israel. Dee wasn't to start in Istanbul I think. That is the is the Suez Canal, The cruise after goes to India which is the first round trip Abu Dhuabi cruise. Not sure we can swing the entire thing. We have friends like Toni planning on doing the Suez as well as some friends we met in on Millennium in Asia.

Let us know what you decide to do!

Happy Holidays and sailing!

Jenna
