Henrylover Posted December 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2014 It's been almost thirty years since my last cruise so my memory is faint. Is there a duty free or a place to buy wine at the terminal in Fort lauderdale before boarding ? Was told we were allowed two bottles to take aboard. thanks so much
WestLakeGirl Posted December 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2014 You are allowed two bottles per stateroom, but there is no store in the Fort Lauderdale terminal
Rare Cruise Raider Posted December 28, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 28, 2014 You'd have to stop at Wines and More (something like that) before boarding. I understand it is not too far from the terminal ... but you would have to go by cab, I am sure.
Rare cruisestitch Posted December 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2014 Are you flying down the day before? If so, you should find several chances to buy wine nearby most of the larger hotels which are popular for pre-cruise stays. But you will not find a wine store at the terminal. In fact, there are no shops at all in the terminal area.
carlandlyn Posted December 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 28, 2014 Further too the original question; are you only able to take two bottles of wine on at the point of embarkation, or can you bring further two bottle allowances at other ports on the trip? WestLakeGirl Posted December 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 28, 2014 The policy states embarkation day only, unless on a designated wine cruise. But enforcement varies. Some have their wine purchases taken on re-boarding the ship, some don't

Rare cruisestitch Posted December 28, 2014 #9 Share Posted December 28, 2014 spookwife wrote: "embarkation port ONLY. anything else will be taken and stored for you until the last night." This is not necessarily true. There have been many reports of wine being taken, as the policy states, but there have also been many cases where there is no one assigned to take the wine, no table set up for this process, and the passenger brings the wine on without delay. The thing is, you won't know which will be the case on your cruise, in any given port. So prepare to have it taken, and be happy if it isn't. CaribbeanBound Posted January 3, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 3, 2015 We have packed Black Box wine in our suitcase. It travels very well and we think it's a darn good tasting wine. We've never had a problem with the airline or cruiseline. http://www.blackboxwines.com/
