LloydChristmas Posted January 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2015 The medical only policies I've read state that the medical insurance covers travel abroad to other countries. Our cruise goes to Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and Castaway Cay. So if I put the destination for the insurance as Bahamas (castaway cay), will it still cover medical evac while on the ship and in all the islands? How can you get medical evac coverage on trips to US territories?
donaldsc Posted January 7, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2015 Seems like the best way to get an answer on your question is to call the insurance company and when you do, make sure that you get your answer in writing. A verbal answer is worth that paper that it is not printed on. DON
Rare GeezerCouple Posted January 7, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2015 We recommend calling Steve and colleagues at TripInsuranceStore.com But CALL them, don't just look at the policy summaries on their website; there is lots more in the "fine print". Explain exactly what your needs/concerns are, and they'll spend some time discussing any policies that would be suitable. Then make sure you *read* the policy to make sure it does cover what you want, and also what would be required should you need to make a claim. Do you only need medevac coverage, or do you also need coverage for medical costs on the ship or any ports? (Check with your own health insurer about what they would cover. The Bahamas is not a US territory - just mentioning this because you specified "US Islands" in your title.) GeezerCouple
