Minor's passport

When my boys were 6 and 8 we got them Passports and took a limo to the port. The security guard at the gate to the entrance needed to see everyone's Passports and we forgot to sign them. He told us we needed to sign them ASAP including the kids to sign their own. Wasn't an issue since they could read and write. I still have their old Passports and it's so cute to see their little signatures in cursive.

Based upon my experience, if your child can sign their own name, then they will need to.

She is only printing at this point. They don't start teaching cursive until next year.

We weren't sure either when our kids were younger and the customs people had our kids sign their own. And our youngest barely printed. It is really cute to look back now.

I don't think they really care as long as they are signed, so why not make it a memory?

A 7-year-old is able to sign his/her own passport. However, for very young children, the passport should be signed,"Mary Doe by mother, Jane Doe".

This is the correct answer. If the child is too young to sign their own passport, a parent should sign for them in the form shown above.
