Hello all! Ok so I can't find the right board where I would need to ask this question...but hopefully someone can help, if not pls point me to the right direction. We are going on the breakaway on Feb 22nd and one of our ports is port canaveral Florida and we are just trying to figure out where to go with our kids. We are going with my sis and her famlily, her kids are 3 and 8 and mine are 5 and 4. Thinking Seaworld bc disney seems so expensive since we would only be half a day. I think they said we dock at noon. Seaworld seems awesome and I know the kids would love it, But I always wanted to take the kids to Legoland, is that even close to the ship? Has anyone gone there?

Thanks...Any other suggestions or tips would be great.

Legoland is too far away from the port. It is in Winter Haven, FL. About 100 miles away and takes approx 2 hours.

SeaWorld is the closest...Just a straight shot across the Beach Line also known as Highway 528. It is about 1.25 hours away from the port.

You do NOT have time to do Disney, or Seaworld or Universal......They all require much more time that you will have. Orlando is about an hour away....and it takes about 30 mins. from parking to the actual parks! You need DAYS to do those parks!

You could go to the space center....or to a beach....

Legoland is 96 miles (1 hr 40 mins to 2 hrs.) away from Port Canaveral. Too far! Disney and SeaWorld are about 1 hr. away.

We haven't been to Legoland but it was part of our plans for our Orlando trip last month. We just decided to skip it because we spent most of our time in Disney World, SeaWorld and other Orlando attractions.

Both Disney World and SeaWorld are great and wonderful for kids.

Here's another thread where you can get more info about visiting Disney World as an excursion.

Another vote for 'none of the above' - all of these parks need much longer than a half-day to really enjoy (WDW is the most 'do it right or just don't do it at all' IMO).

I'd go for the Space Centre myself, both in terms of distance (close), lack of queues for rides, and awesomeness that can be taken in without being there for every minute of the day. Lunch with an astronaut is very good value and will let your kids actually meet someone who has been to space - although it was certainly the grownups who seemed most in awe when we did it!

Agreed. I do Disney every year in September and have gone for about 9 straight years now and still feel like we miss out on some things. And with travel time, and time to get inside. Just never seemed like a great excursion idea out of Port Canaveral. Although that port does leave a lot to be desired in the way of excursion choices.

Sounds like Legoland is too far for this trip, but I'd suggest it for some time in the next few years. It's a great park for young kids because it's BORING for kids over 12 or so. Result is that the park isn't crowded with bands of teens, and that enhances the park experience for the younger kids.

There is so much to do at any one of the theme parks that one day would never be enough. But if you are willing to splurge, I believe that Universal has an express pass at an extra fee that allows you to bypass the regular line and get on the rides faster. That way you would get to do a lot more in a limited amount of time.

I live in Northeaster Florida, 3-4 hours one way from Orlando. We have family and friends who live all over the world and, when they visit, Orlando is on their bucket list. For that reason we always suggest they fly into and out of Orlando, and allow 4-5 days to do the park thing. For visitors arriving from abroad, we suggest they see the parks on their way home. That way jet lag won't interfere with park time.

If you consider a 4 hour round trip to any of the Orlando area parks to spend perhaps only 4 hours in a park that requires 1 or more days to see at $100 or more per person per day, go for it. If you decide to go that route, then spend the extra bucks for an escorted ticket.....but beware of the sticker shock!

Given the young ages of the children (3,4,5 8) I would pass on Orlando and, as has been suggested, do the Kennedy Space Center experience. It will be a lot less stressful for both adults and children.

To really enjoy and experience a Orlando park holiday, make it just that. Don't try to squeeze a size 9 into a size 6.

For kids that age, I think Seaworld would be the most enjoyable and doable with the ship excursion. Our friends did this several years ago and we met them at Seaworld since we live just north of Orlando. It's expensive and they didn't get to do everything, but they had a good time. Besides the exhibits, they enjoyed Shamu's happy harbor which had small rides and a huge 3 story playground, with giant sand area.

I think Kennedy Space center would be cheaper, but I think it's geared towards older kids and adults, unless your children are really into rockets and imax. But it could be relaxing and there is a playground that my kids spent time on.

I think Disney and Universal is too hectic. With kids that age, there will be many rides that the little ones will not be able to ride at Universal.

The week you're talking about is a big vacation week. There will be thousands at the theme parks with long lines. I think you will be disappointed at how much you won't be able to do. If you go to Cape C. and the kids get cranky(which almost never happens) you're close to the ship and some or all of you can be back to the ship in a few minutes.
