Rare Coral Posted August 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2005 Has anyone done the Ocean Trail Walk through Princess (or any other line)? in Bar Harbor. I am curious if one does this and a tour of Acadia National Park on another shore excursion, would you see the same things or is it entirely different? I think the tours are different but since I haven't been there.... Thank you! Here is the descriptions of the tours - Ocean Trail Walk Explore the shore of Acadia National Park on a casual walk as your guide recounts the history - natural and manmade- of Mount Desert Island. Your Ocean Trail Walk Your walk along the coast provides the perfect introduction to this internationally renowned seaside resort, which has attracted the rich and famous for more than 130 years. The presentation is free ranging, depending on local conditions. Your guide discusses the geology and natural history of Mount Desert Island, the lobster industry and the techniques used to harvest lobsters, and the history and development of Acadia National Park. --------- Acadia National Park Scenic Drive Explore Acadia National Park, 35,000 acres offering sweeping vistas of majestic cliffs, rocky coves, glacier-carved lakes, and forests. Your Scenic Drive Acadia National Park- The 30-mile-long Loop Road to Hull’s Cove and Cadillac Mountain takes you past famous sights including Jordan Pond House, Otter Cliffs and Thunder Hole, where ocean swells converge against granite cliffs to create a thunderous roar. Most of the park was donated by the Rockefeller family: As you wind through the park, see hand-cut stone bridges and other evidence of the family’s elaborate carriage trails. Photo Opportunities Cadillac Mountain-Depending upon weather conditions, stop for a souvenir photo taken from the highest peak on the Atlantic coast north of Rio de Janeiro. Cadillac Mountain affords spectacular views of Bar Harbor and its surrounding islands. Ocean Drive-Enjoy impressive views of Acadia’s rugged coastline from the comfort of your coach. What You See Along the Way After a tour of Bar Harbor’s city sights, drive along the scenic coastal road into Acadia National Park. On your return from the park, you pass the remaining mansions built by some of the country’s most prominent citizens. Today, many have been converted to quaint Bed and Breakfast Inns. Jan_In_Maine Posted August 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2005 If you have the choice IMO you should do the park then take a nice walk along the ocean (right in town afterwards) much more scenery going into the park. Jan
