MarkBearSF Posted January 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2015 Booked a little 2 night repo cruise on the Star Princess from SFO - Vancouver with a group. We booked Anytime Dining, expecting that group plans will coalesce later. Question - how are dining rooms typically assigned - and is a specific MDR assigned to a cabin choosing the Anytime option? (I would assume that would be more popular than traditional assigned seating, so should have >1 dining room)
caribill Posted January 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2015 The aft dining room is exclusively for early and late traditional seating. The two dining rooms near the atrium are used for anytime, but one of them may be used first for an early traditional seating if the demand for that is there. If assigned to anytime, you can use either of the anytime time dining rooms during their anytime hours. Menus and dress codes are the same for all three dining rooms. skynight Posted January 28, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2015 If you have a large group that wishes to dine together at the same table, suggest you go to the DR on boarding day and speak with the Head Waiter. Large groups are sometimes difficult to seat, just as they are in land based restaurants.
Jasperdo Posted January 28, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 28, 2015 On my last cruise on the Star Princess, the Capri Dining Room on Deck 5 midship, just off the Piazza, was Anytime from 5:30PM onwards. (Although they usually opened the doors around 5:15PM.) The Portofino Dining Room, midship on Deck 6, was Traditional at 5:30PM, and converted to Anytime at approx. 7:30PM. Cruisin' Chick Posted January 29, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 29, 2015 There's a lot of info about the different dining options on your ship on the Princess site: http://www.princess.com/learn/onboard/food_dining/ Click on the PDF link where it says "Dining Options and Hours."
