Hi we are doing back to back cruises on the Liberty same cabin both cruises. Does anyone know how Carnival works this. We have done back to back with other lines. RCCL we left all our stuff in the cabin went down to customs with crew member then straight back onto the ship. Princess was basically the same but had to wait a short time then back on the ship. Does. carnival do it this way??

Yes...you will leave your belongings in your room and be escorted off the ship, through customs and back on. You will receive a new sign and sail card at that time. Easy peasy! :)

We always tell our room steward that we are doing a B2B. They should have a list and already know that but we just confirm. You will receive a letter the night before the cruise telling you what time and where to meet in the morning. You will be the last ones off of the ship. You get off, hand over your customs form, take a new boarding photo for your new S&S cards, and get back on.

 

This is a good time to check out other cabin categories if you are interested. Most times you will receive something from the hotel director such as a fruit basket, champagne, etc.

 

If you have fixed dining and like your table location and servers, talk with the Maitre d' during the first cruise and tell him your preferences for the second cruise.

 

If you are bringing on wine, we have been able to bring on two bottles per person at the start of the first cruise by showing the documents for both legs. Most times that has not even been checked. If you buy alcohol in the ship's shop, wait until after 7PM on the last night of the first cruise and you can take it back to your cabin. Sometimes, your S&S card might be flagged as being on a B2B and you can't do it, but usually it works.

 

It's a great feeling on the last night of the first cruise when your servers sing "Leaving your fun ship" and you know you're not getting off.

Just back from a b2b on the Valor. Any liquor held by ship was NOT delivered until the end of the 2nd cruise. Did not try using the ship's store on the last night. Did take 2 bottles of wine but did it getting off ship and reboarding.

I have done B2B twice with Carnival and have had 2 very different experiences. First when dealing with Alcohol if you want to buy just wait til the last day of the cruise and buy in the shop they will allow you to take directly to the room.

 

Now how the re-boarding was done, in Florida when we sailed we were in a conference type room onboard the ship with several other B2B cruisers. We were escorted off of the ship and then right back on without much issue. We had to clear customs, but this was VERY fast.

 

In New York was another story, this was terrible they had no clue what to do with us. It appeared we were the only ones and that they did not deal with this too often. They had us wait in the Lobby and escorted us off at the VERY END of debarkation, this was a hassle. Then we were brought back onboard, but once again they screwed up and messed up our embarkation, somehow they did not scan us in correctly and we had to meet security on the first night of the cruise to scan our cards in. We were paged. We had to be escorted down to deck 0 and go through swiping our cards. I guess technically we were not on the ship according to carnival... This was the such a different experience from the first time in Florida...

Just did this on Liberty in PC. Yes, you are escorted off the ship, then back on again, and they gave us a glass of champagne and took a group picture in the atrium. The problem: we had planned to get off the ship in PC and do some shopping for "supplies" and also our allowed 2 bottles of carry on wine. By the time the picture was taken and we went back to our cabin for our carry on bags, the next week's pax were boarding and we were DENIED exit. By the time we were allowed off the ship I was terrified we would get caught in traffic or something similar and miss the ship all over 2 bottles of wine. But I was really upset about it. :mad: I finally went to guest services and complained nicely...they responded with a bottle of wine "on the house." Very nice gesture, but I was still out a bottle, the allowed carry on soda and the supplies we needed. So my advice if you are planning to get off the ship in between cruises is to make sure this is an option. And get off ASAP. They even gave us a card that read we were "in transit" for reboarding, but we weren't able to use it. B2B'es are great. I am spoiled forever! :pBTW, I thought we had to just get off the ship for customs, but I heard that the ship has to be EMPTIED of pax between voyages.

We are planning a b2b next year. I know when I bought liquor from the fun shops I did it the last day later and instead of it being delivered to our room, I had to go pick it up. I'm wondering if it would be flagged some how or if I could get away with keeping it for the second leg of our cruise. Gonna try anyway. ;)

One thing I did not see mentioned already was on our B2B we did not have to do the "boat drill" for the second leg! We just told our cabin steward we were B2B and he just said stay in the cabin for a while. Loved it!! :D

On Miracle in Long Beach after all of the other passengers disembarked they had us leave the ship, go through customs, and then leave the dome to go to the Captain's Lounge to get checked in for the next cruise. We were given our new S&S cards and then had to wait for a couple of hours to reboard. We were the first on, ahead of the wedding parties.

 

This system stank! It seemed to take an awful long time and what was to be a relaxing day became tedious and frustrating.

 

And HA! There was no champagne or any picture taking.

Can't confirm, but you need to confirm it when you get back because we are doing B2B on Breeze in July. First time. And we are in same cabin both legs. :)

Oh, this stinks. The problem we had not being able to get off the ship in PC was partly my fault because I should have gone right away, but instead hung out and then went to cabin to get carry on bags. But they should have "warned me" to get right off. Security "couldn't handle" exits and entrances at the same time. .We also had a bottle of champagne and fruit basket in our cabin that night. I think it might be the custom's officials that dictate when pax can board. Might not be CCL's fault.
