SMSACE6 Posted February 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) I love them both. For Grand Cayman, I recommend a tour to Stingray City. Swimming with the Stingrays was one of the best excursions I have ever done on a cruise. I am really a wimp in the water, scared of fish and sea life in general, but my friends were in the water and having a blast, the second to last person off the tour boat was an 80 something grandma, and there I was sitting there seeing everyone having so much fun...! I was the last one off, but have never regretted it. Just loved that experience, and so did everyone around me. Cozumel, there are lots of great beach/water destinations. I have done one which I loved (Playa Mia), but does not get good reviews. Nachi Cocum gets some excellent reviews, as well as Mr Sanchos and Paradise beach. Other tours that take you to the other, remote side of the island seem to be fun. The town itself in Cozumel is fun to me, just to wander. Have a great cruise.:) Edited February 6, 2015 by SMSACE6
notsodesperatehousewife Posted February 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Nachi Cocum is more adult oriented. Mr. Sancho's and Paradise are more family friendly with activities for kids and teens and a more lively vibe. Mr. Sancho's has an a la carte side with more kid activities and a shallower pool and a AI side to choose from. I have not been, but I have heard excellent things about Chankanaab Park, on this forum. Look for a review by mitsugirly - lots of pictures and good information. 58Piano Posted February 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2015 In cozumel I go to Passion Island. Have done this 4 times. Fantastic beach lunch is included plus all your drinks. Lots for the kids to do. Water toys, hammocks, volley ball In Grand Cayman I highly recommend Captain Marvin's stingray tour. They have over 60 years of service doing the tours. Mirrasi Posted February 6, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2015 I also did captain Marvin, the full tour including stingrays, snorkel, hell, and turtles. It was just amazing! I did Nachi Cocum in Cozumel. Everyone raves about it. Our was just okay for me. Plus we had a horrible taxi driver falling asleep at the wheel. It was enough to make me avoid that port again. I know everyone loves Nachi but i wouldn't recommend it
cutiepiefred Posted February 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2015 We have done the sting ray bar in caymen 2 times now and both times it was amazing, and the turtle farm was pretty cool as well, i think we are doing the turtle farm again this time with our 6 year old. We are planning to do paradise beach in cozumel as this is the 3rd time we will be in cozumel. Its 3 bucks to get access then 15 if you want to use the water equiptment, taxi is about 10-12 a person that is a DIY option. they recommend that you get lunch from them but its not required. we also did a snuba tour last time and it was pretty cool as you could see fish deeper then just snorkeling but not as far deep as scuba. i think it was about 80 a person but that was booked directly through the cruise line. Rare mitsugirly Posted February 14, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 14, 2015 I highly recommend doing the stingray sandbar in Grand Caymen. It's quite the experience. I have a review with pictures listed in my signature line if you are interested. :)
OCruisers Posted February 14, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 14, 2015 In Grand Cayman most very much enjoy swimming with the stingrays for their first time there. Absolutely consider doing this! Passion Island in Cozumel is quite lovely. To make it more active, consider taking the Twister to get there. It's a wild ride. We prefer going by the tour catamaran.
