magictam Posted February 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2015 I have cruised Carnival, HAL, Princess and RCCL. This will be my first time with NCL. While checking in on line, it requested an arrival time, so I selected one, but don't have a clue why. Do I have to arrive during that time? What happens if I'm early or late. I'm driving from Polk City (5 hours) so could be later than I selected. Thanks for your help.
russianmom Posted February 10, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2015 That must be something new, I've never been asked that before. I typically arrive at 10 but have been as early as 8 and as late as 1.
Rare shof515 Posted February 10, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 10, 2015 when i looked at the checkin options for my cruise in june, i didnt see anything like that listed for the gem out of nyc. I guess they want to have an idea of when people are coming to the termial for crowd control reasons
murfette Posted February 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2015 Are you in a suite? I think they asked this on the getaway with online check in. Leaving for epic next Sunday and I don't recall this being asked. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Cruiser Who Knows Nothing Posted February 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2015 They asked me the other day for our on-line check in for The Sky. In May 2014 for the Getaway, they didn't ask. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Bryna123 Posted February 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2015 We had that as well on Sky. Our original time I chose changed and I was concerned it might have an impact on boarding, but when I called NCL they seemed unperturbed about whatever time we arrived. Had no issues. Enjoy! garycarla Posted February 10, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 10, 2015 You will get there when you get there. Not like they will turn you away - LOL! Are you doing transfers?
magictam Posted February 11, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Thanks everyone for the replies and reassurance. I don't really expect them to turn me away if I don't make it in the time frame I picked but it's nice for the reassurance. We don't have any transfers. I'm doing a 5K at Disney at 6:15 then driving from there.
janpo Posted February 11, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 11, 2015 They asked that also for our cruise on the Sky last month. We sailed the Getaway last September and it wasn't asked. Maybe it's a Sky thing?
Demonyte Posted February 11, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 11, 2015 It can be a port/terminal thing too - or the beginning of new era regarding crowd control on many cruise lines at the same time. We sailed on Celebrity Reflection from POM in January and they were doing their version of crowd control too (first time our friends that are Elite with X saw this happen) - they sent emails and text messages (for some passengers dozens of them :D) about pre-assigned arrival times to the port based on decks. This caused an uproar on Celebrity board here and Celebrity representative had to admit that even though the email was worded like it was mandatory, the times were only suggestions.
