I thought so! I was on the Paradise a few months ago and upgraded twice. It was fantastic. I am heading back on the Paradise in April and will plan to do it again. It's a quick cruise and an older ship without a steakhouse so it was fun to splurge with casino winnings.

If you are on a ship with a steakhouse, I would pay the full $35.00 per person and eat in there. I'm sure the upsell meal option is good, but for $15.00 more pp, you will get the entire dining experience. The steakhouse ambiance and food are fantastic and IMO, worth every penny.

For us no, it would be $70 plus a tip (we always tip extra). DH doesn't like steak or sitting for too long, MDR is about as long as he can take.

Glad to hear the $20 fillet is a good option. I like a good steak. Thanks!

Upsell lobster in the MDR for $20 is larger than the usual "elegant night" canner size, and you get two large claws vice one large and one small claw, but not the lobstersaurus size they roll out on the sample plate to get you to book the Steakhouse.

Even in the Steakhouse the Surf & Turf is only a half of the lobster tail you get in the MDR on "elegant night".

Just wondering if the fillet and Maine lobster are good? DH hates steak so going to the specialty rest. is a waste but I do enjoy a good steak and would pay the $20 in the MDR.

DH recently did the $20 upcharge in the MDR and got a NY Sirloin. He said it was one of the best he's had and worth the upcharge. I don't eat steak or fish, so I was happy he was able to experience the steak without having us spend $70 for me to just eat chicken in the steakhouse.

Here's a pic!

Just off the Fascination and we had the NY Strip - quite delicious and my husband had the filet which he said was fantastic. So as much as we like the steakhouse when no steakhouse is available or its not what you want to do, this is a great alternative.

Thank you so much! It's great to hear I can have a nice steak in the MDR. I love meat and red wine.

I understand that many of you would choose the specialty rest. We just don't do those anymore. So it's great to have another option.

It is good for us because Triumph does not have specialty restaurants on our 12 day

can you pick any of the steaks off the menu or are you limited for the $20.00

There are four choices from the upsell. I have had the whole Maine lobster and it was terrific around 1 1/2 pounds. DH had the NY strip and he said there was too much grizzle. I tasted it was soft as butter and delicious.

the options are a 1-1/2 lb steamed whole lobster, surf & turf, 9 oz filet mignon and 14 oz ny strip steak. they swap out the lobster for lamb on the first elegant night. here's a sample menu:

This sounds like an excellent, yummy (and cheaper) alternative to going to the Steakhouse!! :D One question, will they have this option in the MDR on the Vista (for now, my next Carnival cruise) or is it only on ships that don't have a Steakhouse? Thanks!!
