oomwizard Posted February 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2015 Hi all, Although Platinum I've never had early seating in the MDR, always, always been late seating. Usually, after dinner I/we get coffee(s) and expresso(s) and linger till we're done nibbling on dessert and finishing coffees. Question is: I assume at early seating they might require you to "move out" to get ready for the late seating. Anyone ever get asked to leave or is there way more than enough time to never be rushed? firemanbobswife Posted February 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2015 There is WAY more than enough time. Once you see them start clearing tables, it's time to vacate.
Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted February 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2015 We also have espresso after dinner and take our time leaving during early seating always plenty of time.
kevwat44 Posted February 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 21, 2015 I have always done early seating and never felt rushed. Although we don't linger due to wanting to go to a show, see a movie, etc, never been asked to leave.
Chief1369 Posted February 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 21, 2015 Haven't felt rushed at all and we like to linger over coffee and dessert as well.
fireofficer5 Posted February 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 21, 2015 When all the tables around you are empty, the guys are setting the tables for the next meal, its time to leave.

nchikk Posted February 22, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 22, 2015 What does being platinum have to do with your question? I think that's just the OP's way of saying they are a seasoned cruiser and even so, have never had early seating.
SMSACE6 Posted February 22, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) I dont really know with the early fixed time dining, but have you considered doing your time dining/open seating.? You can still go early (or late), and I doubt they would ever hurry your out while you are enjoying your after dinner coffee. I know that some people dont like ytd for their own reasons, but just think it might be an option for you. serene56 Posted February 22, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 22, 2015 The. Seating will have to be in by 8 so allow time for the wait or to turn your table. An hour and 45 minutes is a long time
AZ Karaoke Girl Posted February 22, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 22, 2015 I always do early seating. There have been times that we are still eating our dessert when they are clearing tables. I've never been rushed or asked to leave. However, be mindful that you should vacate 5 to 10 minutes before the late seating is allowed to enter so they have time to turn your table. KatieCharlotte Posted February 22, 2015 #13 Share Posted February 22, 2015 We have lingered too long and suddenly noticed all the other tables were empty. No one had asked us to leave or rushed us in any way. Don't worry -- we were polite and left so they could re-set our table. But I've never felt rushed. If we can't do my time dining, we greatly prefer early seating. We have always had plenty of time and never felt rushed due to late seating. We have felt rushed ourselves because we wanted to see a show though.
BallFour4 Posted February 22, 2015 #15 Share Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Last week on the Magic they turned the lights up on Early Seating dinner. I've never seen that in four decades of cruising. We weren't the last ones to leave, it was no later than 7:45pm on both times. . A&Jfamily Posted February 22, 2015 #16 Share Posted February 22, 2015 We have done eS probably 8 times now. And each time we show up at 605...let the herd at the door clear. We order appetizer and dinner and are finishing the main meal right about 7. And we are in no rush. The kids will often get dessert early (when you have younger they keep them a course ahead, thus eating dessert with parent entrees so they can make camp at 7) and head out. We order dessert and coffee and are still done by 730. Does make it hard to hit the early comedy show, but other than that, you have the rest of the evening. It's quite nice, Sent from my iPad using Forums
cb at sea Posted February 23, 2015 #17 Share Posted February 23, 2015 You can only stay so long...there's a herd of late diners waiting...they WILL get you out, if you linger too long.
oomwizard Posted February 24, 2015 Author #18 Share Posted February 24, 2015 Sounds like ES time is not a problem at all. Did do YTD once and didn't like it. We've always made friends with the servers and tablemates at assigned seating. YTD was ok, just not as fun. Thanks for info!
