For those that have sailed the Baltic before

Looking into getting a wifi hotspot for my family, it also charges phones and I can copy photos to it, so it seems like a good idea.

What I wanted to know from those that have cruised the Baltic ports, are you able to pick up signals from land when at sea?

We will be getting internatioanl sims for our phones, and I will have ipad to correspond with family at home, along with a USA and UK phone number on my phone.

I know you can get free wifi at some locations, but wanted the ease of having our own. And not be stuck at a local cafe to use it.

Generally, how close do the cruise ships stay close the shore, that they pick up signals?

We will be on the Brilliance of the Seas, stopping in UK, ESTONIA, RUSSIA, FINLAND, SWEDEN and COPENHAGEN.

Thanks!

The Vasa museum in Stockholm offers free Wi-Fi but I don't know how fast it is.

Also Stockholm Visitor Center at Kulturhuset at Sergels Torg have free Wi-Fi but you will have to ask the staff for the code.

Some more places with free wi-fi;

There are plans to offer free wi-fi at i.e. parks and squares in Stockholm but it will take a few years until it is in place.
