Walking from cruise ship pier to charlotte Amalie?

We are on a Celebrity Summit cruise soon and was wondering if we could walk from where the cruise ship docks to the downtown area of Charlotte Amalie.

Sure! One flat mile along the waterfront from Havensight to town. Get some exercise and enjoy the view.:)

And once there if you change your mind there is transportation available for $4.00pp one way into town...they will be lined up as you exit your ship. Enjoy !!!

No you don't...a very easy port..it (logistics) will all make sense to you once there.

When we were there last March, we told a cab driver that we were going to walk to town, and he said, "good luck." We had done it before, so we weren't worried, but apparently the scare tactics work.

OK, if we walk/take a taxi each way in St. Thomas to go to the town of Charlotte Amalie, what is there to see in this town? Any good buys?

As to directions...From Havensight, turn left and go through Yacht Haven Grande. They have some signs that say "To Town." There is a sidewalk the entire way.
